Opinions on my polish job.
Ok, I decided to try and polish my rims the real way since my car has no engine. My fist time every sanding and polishing using wheels and compounds and I was wanting to know, could I do it better, what did I do wrong, and so forth and so on. Please be gentle!!

Wow that looks GREAT!
I'm looking at doing the same thing to mine. What all was involved with this and how long did it take you? I would also think about painting the lines inbetween the spokes a dark black. That would look pretty sweet and give it the "brand new" look..... Good job!

Im definatly a fan of the polished and painted look in the IROC rims, 3 are still blue where I painted them before and did a poor attempt at "polishing". All I did was follow the link at the top of the page and dig around and theres some really good stuff on polishing metals. Basically I went with the Eastwood Co. buffing wheels and compounds, sanded 180 dry 320/400 wet and followed the 4 step program that I found by digging around. I would recommend ordering larger than the 4" buffing wheels though, I ran into a drill problem and had to borrow my friends, which ended up being alot faster and at the wheel up, so now I have to order more. Hope that helps ya some. Thanks for the comments!!!

Im using 180 dry, then 320 wet and finally 400 wet. For the buffing im using Sisal wheel With Emery, spiral sewn with emery, loose sewn with tripoli and canton flannel with white rouge. I just ordered a new sisal and a new spiral sewn, both yellow treated and in 10". I found a yellow treated loose spiral sewn 8" and 2 flannel 10" buffs I had from some previous attempt at polishing. Ill be using these as soon as my new sisal and spiral wheels come in. Thanks for the comments!!

if you go further with the sanding to like 600 and 800 you can do less buffing steps, i have sanded up to 1000 and only needed two polishes to get the shine i wanted. tripoli and white rouge
looks nice should sand the curb rash down more though.
