Need some help about polishing equipment
In a couple weeks im gonna take a weekend and polish my wheels. I have read and understand the process but I have a couple questions before I order from Eastwood Company. I know what I need, just not the quanity(don't wanna run short).
How much of this stuff do I need?
Compounds and Buffs:
1) Buff Compound White Rouge 14 oz Tube
2) Buff Compound Tripoli 13 oz Tube
3) Buff Wheels Canton(what size is best 4, 6, 8, or 10)
4) Buff Wheel Spiral(what size is best 4, 6, 8, or 10)
Sandpaper:
I can't seem to find the right sandpaper on the Eastwood Site. Im looking for 180 dry, 320 wet, and 400 wet.......I would perfer the stuff on a roll that you could stick to your finger.
If any of you guys use this stuff and could help I would be very greatful.

these are what i used to sand my aluminum projects, i did not do any wet sanding. 80, 120 , 240, 320. works great on a dremel or air die grinder. get extra arbors they do bend if dropped then they can not be used don;t even try to sand with a bent arbor.

this is real nice for a bench grinder for flat parts

here is my newest tool that works great and may be just the ticket for your rims if you have air.

you will need at least two buffs one for each product. do not mix products on the same buff or it will not produce the results you need. size depends on what your using to buff with i would guess and reccomend a bench grinder. i used the 5 " and 7" i liked the 7" better. i also had some 4" or maybe 3 they were small. nice for little parts but forget it for bigger projects not enough room.

I bought that sticky back paper on rolls from Lowes or home Depot. The key with handsanding is dont try to scrimp on the paper. Use it liberally, Cause on metal a small piece is shot after about 7-10 swipes.
Not sure about the size of the wheels, but i would think the smaller wheels would work better if youre needing to get into the spaces on those rims.
Sanding is fun for the whole family!! :lala: :lala: :lala:

I just ordered 3 compounds and 4 wheels from eastwood to do my wheels, for the 4 step process. I was worried there wouldnt be enough compound, but there is MORE than enough compound in the tubes, I could do every piece of metal on my car with it lol. The compound comes in a tube a bit larger than a can of bisquits, if that helps any.
