Good eye!

Its true, my drivers side door is not lined up and is getting worse every day. Its rubbing against my groundeffects and scraping the paint off. It drives me nuts, but I deffinitely don't feel like paying the high price for those high quality aircraft type bushings for the doors. I just don't have the money right now.

I also noticed 2 days ago that my passanger side door is starting to go out of alignment too. AHH!

Old cars man, its the way it goes. Car does look really good from years back. Good to see someone bought a nice car and kept it that way. Have you done anything else to the motor since you have gotten it? Also, does it still have the tv in there?

For a quick temp fix, open the door and put a piece of 2x4 under it and then jack it up with a floor jack. Dont put it under the door skin edge, but the bottom of the door. Only go a pump at a time. Go very easy with the jack so you dont break the hinge. This will keep it from rubbing the paint off the ground f/x. It will work for a while, but is now a permanent fix. I did mine back in 96 and it has been fine ever since.

I will check it out.

As far as I know, the upper hinges seem fine. I may just need a set of lower hinges to fix the problem. I am not sure, I will need to take a look at it closer one day.

If you open the door, you can lift the door from the end of it. If you feel some movement in the door, that means your hinges are bad. My Drivers door, they are VERY bad. The passanger one is on its way out too.

Andy's kits are nearly a 100 bucks per door, for a bolt and nut! I am not saying that they aren't good. I mean, there isn't a single person that said it wasn't worth the money. I just can't afford it.

Yes, the paint is *very* expensive. $92 bucks a quart, and that was my painters cost!

It makes me sad seeing all these scratches and whatnot in my paint. The car is a daily driver, so it gets beat up like any other car. I try to keep it up, but there are some things that need to be redone.

I didn't get the paintjob done myself, I bought the car with the paint already on the car. I have heard estimates of the cost, but I am not really sure how much it was. I know all the body work and whatnot was done at the same time. Which at least the body is perfectly straight. Alot of time was put into it.

Body work and paint together cost $6000 but I was quoted $5000 so that is all I was charged. Sad part is atleast one of the door hinges (One side top and bottom if I remember correctly) was replaced when all the body work was done. And its shot already?

Maybe it was replaced with a used one. The passanger one isn't that bad.. but form what I remember.. the drivers one was scraping paint since I got it. It was probabally the passanger one that was replaced. Its been getting worse and worse though. I just need to sink some money into the hinge repair kit.

Sonar, I met you at a thirdgen gathering at bearcreek park in H-town a year or so ago. Your car is still awesome looking! Anyway, I had the same problem with my door and fender lining up and I even see this on newer camaro's. Does your fender seem to stick out further than your door? If so, look under the car where the fender skin is bolted down, if your car has been jacked up in that spot then there is a good chance that tab was crushed and caused our fender to go out of alignment. I had the same problem and fixed it by straightening out that tab (the part of the fender skin) and pushing it inward with pliers. It worked perfectly. So, your door hinges might be relatively fine. Check it out and see.

I am pretty positive its not a fender problem, but a door problem.

Thanks for the compliments Neil.. now.. if you just loan me your engine... and your brakes... all will be good

Are you showing up to the Spring Fling Thing?

Hey man, are those just stock wheels/tires from a 4th gen? Did you have to do any mods to get them to fit up with your car.

btw.. wow.. .... ... wow.. super car. I love the 4th gen Trans Am emblems on the side

I wish to not show off my crappy engine bay at all costs. I am not quite done with it yet. However, you haven't seen my recent modifications quite yet either.

Yes, they are the stock wheels from a 4th gen. I have a 4th gen rear so no mofications are needed to make the wheels fit. However on the front you need a wheel spacer (I believe its 2.5"). Thats all that needs to be done.

I am actually considering swapping back to a 3rd gen rear in order to facilitate the purchase of some nice deep dish 17X9.5 wheels. However thats still going to be quite a while into the future.

Rad man, aren't those 17's the size on the 3rd gen Firehawks. I hear Ronal remade those wheels. They would look sweet one your car.

So is it possible to get a spacer for the rear end of a 3rd gen to fit the 4th gen wheels?

Yeah, I am gonna try to show up! I need to get off my ars and finish up tucking those fat ZR1's in. With a little more massaging i'll be spacerless in the rear with the 36.5 mm offset! and i need to cut down the front spacers approx. 0.025". I'll keep ya posted, once all finished i'll ***** some pics of my own

Now, I am gonna go ahead and give Mike aka (1bad91Z ) a pre-emptive "shhhhhh" I have a whole bag of "shhhhhh" waiting for him - Austin Powers
