Powder coated wheels?

I might be coming into a set of Formula 16x8 wheels, that are powder coated black.

First of all, how well will the powder coating hold up? Will I have to be paranoid about ever parking it near a curb?

Second, How do you guys think it would look on an all black Firebird?

I think that unless the wheel has a chrome lip or something to distinguish between the wheel and the tire, it looks really ugly, on any color car. It'll just look like your car is riding on two big black hole's.
Again, it's your car, so if you think it look's good, then do it, but if I were you, I definatly wouldn't do it without seeing how it looks first. I'd seen a yellow camaro on this board with black wheels and it just looked like crap, IMO.

I'm definately waiting to see pictures of the wheels before I settle the deal. Good point about the black hole thing, but I could see where it would look like that on a yellow Camaro. Since my 'bird is all black, I'm hoping it will offset that a bit.

Powder coating is extremely durable, but don't fool yourself into thinking it's bullet proof. Powder coating or not, smacking a curb is going to mess up the wheels pretty bad.

I have an '82 T/A that's primered black and I have the earlier, ('79-'81) turbo wheels that are also black primer. You all probably wouldn't want to park next to it with the spray paint flames, or the stickers and stuff, but I like it. Anyways the only reason it looks like this now, is that I'm gonna paint it when I finish my motor swap, and I thought, why not!!
