how low can you go

i have and 86 iroc and i was wondering how low i could go before i had to start hammering and taking the plastic wheel well covers out.

I am perparing to lower my car hope people respond to your??? my car is also a 1986 IROC i did however go with 245/45/16 it changed my sidewall about 1/2" from stock i personally don't want to cut or hammer anything on my car it only has 18k miles i want to be able to return it to stock if needed good luck with your IROC

Mine sits about 2" lower and rolls on 17x9" wheels with 5" backspacing.The tires are 275/40's and I don't have any problems.My brother has an 89 Rs with the stock 15" wheels and tires and is sitting about 2 1/2" lower than stock without any problems around the fenderwells.The front end valence is another story though.
