detailed motors
I want to detail my TPI engine has anyone here ever chromed a tpi system and all the front serpentine drive stuff ... I'de like to see some pictures of hightly detailed tpi motors and engine compartments if you have them.
I have to keep my motor smog legal so can plastic part like the air injection diverter valve be chrome plated I've seen plastic grills on cars with a chrome finish and wondered if these parts can be done like that.
last question, this is a black and gold car would chrome and or polished parts clash with the color or should I just have my parts anodized or something.

if your looking for something in particular let me know and i'll switch out a picture as i have at least 50 some pics with chrome or polished setups. personally i'd polish your intake pieces as the chrome will turn colors on you.
good luck.
good luck.

As for plastic plating check out a company called www.xxxplating.com They can "chrome" plate pretty much anything.
If you have the latest Summit catalog the 65 Impala cover car has fiberglass bumpers that they chromed. Having seen that car in person quite a bit, I can tell you I never noticed that they were not real steel bumpers.

i think i saw an example of this on like hot rod tv or one of those car shows. They used a koosh football and it looked cool how the chrome like finish stuck . it was neat. I dont know were if any place i use it on the outside of my 3rd gen .

Wow Kandied.. its funny how two of those TPI engines use the GOOD style AC compressors and not those junky ones that are used on most thirdgens and GM vehicles. One of these days I would REALLY like to convert to that style.

thanks guys, karp thanks for the link, thats exactely what I've been looking for ... all the black plastic parts is what has been keeping me from detailing my motor all the smog stuff just kind of ruins the polished look. My main goal is to have the car is show condition and maybe show it a few times.
how much would it cost to have my entire edelbrock pre-cat system coated right now they look pretty sad all rusted. I'm also looking into takinking a bunch of my small parts down and having them all done at once since my motor is going to be rebuilt here soon anyways.
also has anyone here ever replaced the rubber air injection hoses with aluminum pipe I think that would look nice and then just connect it with short hoses.
I dont know how chroming plastic would hold up to high underhood heat so thats a bit of a concern for me but what the heck if it last one day it's worth it to me to do what I've always wanted to do with this car

I have to tell you guys about a car an upholstery guy I know is doing, its an old T-bucket with a gale banks twin turbo motor and nitrous, this motor costed 30k to build and everything is polished on it, it is tuned to 850hp, and when it's all done banks is going to turn it up to 1100hp. from what I saw this car has the acceleration of a crotch rocket but everything in all I sure wouldn't drive it ... car has no front brakes, a steering wheel that sits vertically between you legs, but what a ride it is

good question on the brakes, and it was asked at the upholstery shop, I forgot to mention this thing has a parachute on it as well, and yes it in my opinion is a death trap, but I thing the car was built for bragging more than anything the guy that owns it is a close friend of gale banks from what the upholstery guy was telling me.
gotta say though I'de love the motor in my car and I will get pictures of this t-bucket next time I go over there.
