Fiberglass IROC hoods...

Fiberglass IROC hoods...

Anyone know where I can get a stock looking IROC hood that's fiberglass? I've checked the major suppliers like Harwood, VHN, USbody source, Unlimited, etc. but all they have are regular flat hoods and cowl induction hoods. I'd like to keep the stock look but lose a little weight off the front end. Thanks

I read somewhere not long ago that some 84 and maybe either z28's had fiberglass hoods stock. That might have only been on the High output cars though.

Fiberglass hoods were optional from 82 until something like 84. I remember seeing a recall for all but the 82s though, something about a tendancy to delaminate at high speed or some such thing.

The hood on my wifes 82 is the factory fiberglass hood. They came on the 82 Crossfire cars (with the functionel flaps that pop up when you floor it) I also had an 83 Z28 with a factory fiberglass hood. They were only avalible till 84 as an option on the Z28's.

82 Z28 with 350.motor has .030 forged flat top pistions other wise stock bottom end, Summit 214/224 cam with 1.6 Harland Sharp roller rockers, stock 882 heads for now (will be getting a set of the 23 degree Trick Flows this summer), Performer RPM intake, Holley 750 Vacuum secondary, Th350 with 2200 converter, stock 3.23 geared rearend for now (getting 9" later on), Headman shorty headers, custom 2.5" into 3.5" Y pipe into M.A.C. offroad pipe and M.A.C. cat back system. So far car has only been to the track twice and is having sever traction problems but is running 60'-2.34 1/8 mile-9.2 @ 79 MPH.
