Anodize aluminum parts
In the technical section of thirdgen.org under beautification there is a "How to anodize all your aluminum parts" articlle. Has anyone on here done this? How does it look and how durable is this finish? THANKS

Even hard anodizing doesn't hold up to intense heat. A friend and I built a muffler from aluminum and had it hard anodized black. It was beautiful until a year later when the end that was attached to the collector started to fade. It was HOT, but definatly not as durable as we had originally thought.
Now for things like intakes, throttle bodies, etc, it's probably fine but don't try it on an head. It'll fade at the exhaust ports.
Soft anodized is a joke. It's what you find on the really cheap keychains. It only has died the outer petina, not the actual metal.
