Okay guys, I am a little new to the ol 3rd gens so, I need some help. Will the 80s GTA tailights fit my car and do they look good? If they do, I will spray them with some of that black-out spray. Another thing, will the GTA wheels fit my car and do they look good? I can get both of these things extremely cheap! The guy bought the car and took the TPI out and is putting it in his 57 Chevy. And, what about racing stripes and a cowl induction hood? Will the Camaro 145 mph speedo and guages fit my car? Also if not where can I get one cheap, I also would like a white face guage set.Does anyone have any pics of Firebirds with any of these mods? Thanks in advance for your opinion and your help!

I think they will both fit with no problems. Check my site for pix of the white faced gauges - I also have a link to the place to buy some there.

Yes the T/A / GTA tails will fit & they always look good (IMO). Make sure you get the center piece too.
GTA wheels have always been some of the best factory wheels I've ever seen and look good on more than just 3rd gens (IMO too). If you have the chance to get both fairly cheap,,, go for it,,, or send them to me

So, you guys like em, eh? Has anyone seen this combo or know of any pics of any cars with these? Also, I realy can't remember this too well...does the center piece on the GTA piece have the words "GTA" or "Trans AM"? If they do, can you get the words off and maybe backlight them with some neon or something, sorta like the new Sunfires? Thanks again guys!

If you have access to a complete GTA w/o an engine I would take the hood and all the ground f/x including the nose and rear bumper cover. You would have a bad-a@@ GTA clone. I wouldn't get a racing stripe, they just don't look good on a firebird IMO. I haven't seen a backlighted firebird on the center piece, like the sunfire, but I'm sure it would be fairly easy to do.

The t/a tail lights do look good on firebirds. If i ever get some cash for a paint job. That'll be my next appearance mod.

I believe that the GTA is missing the hood, but it shouldn't be hard to find, eh? So, does anyone think that the backlighted "Firebird" would look good?

One thing about the taillights. Although they are the same shape they may have different mounting studs, meaning you may have to drill a couple of new holes. Also the wiring harnesses may need to be modified and lengthened. I've heard many people say they've needed to do this switching from firebird lights to the TA GTA style.

Not sure on the gauges on an 84 but I do not believe the speedos are interchangeable from Camaro to Bird.

Does anyone know of anyway I can get a 145 mph speedo in my car without it being a $200+ Autommeter? I don't think that the 'ol 85 mph speedo is cuttin it with the Stroker in there vs. the V6, do you?

Auto Meter's Sport Comp seires has a 140 and a 160 for you to choose from, and both are under $100. Call Summit.

Keep in mind aftermarket gauges are going to require modification to fit. The current cluster doesn't have room for the aftermarket speedo or tach. Plus you will need a new speedo cable.

I did all my gauges in Autometer Ultra lites.

I have a few questions. How much did the gauges actually cost after shipping and all, how much is the new speedo cable, and are you happy with them, ie. do they read accurately? Please reply. Thanks.
