Anyone slice through the roof and/or rear quarter panel?
As I've mentioned before, I'm going to need to replace my whole right rear 1/4 panel due to rust. I also have to replace the top section by the back window, where a small crack has turned into a very large one- I'm almost certain that rust has formed under there!
I was wondering if there's any framework (or second panel) behind the 1/4 panel? Know what I mean? Is that quarter panel "skin" the only metal in the area, besides misc. bracing? I'm certain it's that way over the tire, but I don't know much about what's between the rear speaker and outside of the car.
I'm also thinking that "maybe" doing the whole thing is overkill. The major rust areas are on the wheelwell's lip itself, and at the back/bottom of the 1/4 panel. I suppose I "could" take the lower 1/2 of the quarter and weld it in. I suppose I could also take the roof area and weld it in.
Hm. Anyway, I've gotta think about that part more, but does anyone know about what's behind the 1/4 panel? If I cut it out, will I see the inside of the car, or another hidden panel?

Steve, thanks, that's a great pic! I think I'll cut off the 1/4 like you did.. it'll leave me extra to work with.
