My new Trans Am

Hey, take a look at my new Trans Am I just picked up recently. Traded my '91 z28 'vert for it. Pretty much stock right now, but I'm planning things.

Any tips/suggestions on what I should do to it?

Already plan on tinting the windows. IRL, the tips don't stick out as much as the pics show, at least it's not noticable. They actually look pretty damn good.

Oh, and don't agree on the RA I looking better than the II, but that's a matter of opinion. Just think the Ram Air II goes a lot better with the 4th gen spoiler.

Oh, and I want to lower the car.

Nice car...but why the trade?
I think Thirdgen Camaro verts are some of the baddest looking cars...

|___Take a look. It was becomming too much of a project for me. It's got great potential in the right hands, which I now believe it is in; but for me, I want something reliable I can drive.

At the time, I really liked the 4th gen dash. Now, I dunno, I've always liked the stock thirdgen Trans Am dash. I was never a fan of the camaro interior. The dash with its protruding airplane wing always disgusted me. However, If I was gonna do it all again, even if I could get the dash wired up properly and made it look factory, I'd still stick with the factory dash for the car I had. If you know someone with a 4th gen car, just sit in it for a long period of time. Sure, it looks nice in our cars, but truth is: It looks exactly the same as every single interior to come in a car in the last 15 years. Same basic gauge layout, radio, HVAC, etc. all positioned in the same convinient place. Passanger side nice and round for the airbag. Putting the dash in a thirdgen, IMHO, loses a 'lil bit of the 3rd gen's uniquness. How often do you see a dash that looks anything like ours?

Now, on the other hand, if you have a Trans Am, get the 4th gen console. But if you have a camaro, keep your stock one, or at least try to find something that goes with that dash.

Or someone who likes his thirdgen the way it is as opposed to making it something it's not...

The 4h gen dash is kinda nice, but I'm pretty sure my mom's caravan has the same dash.

91zconvt's point was that the thing about thirdgens is that clean ones get a lot of attention because it's not something you see every day. But, if you have a 4th gen dash, you're kind of just blending in with everything else.

I'm not trying to critisize camaros. I just never liked their stock dash. Hell, I even swapped the camaro dash for a 3rd gen TA dash in the past. Look up some of my old posts, it's there. But, after doing, or somewhat doing, the 4th gen dash swap, I can tell you, I'd take a stock camaro dash over it. It just looks like every other dash out there, which astoria (on a side note, where'd that screenname come from? just interested.....) put pretty darn good. If I had a camaro again and wanted to do something with the dash, I'd either learn to fiberglass, or have someone who does it professionaly do it custom for me.

Now, if someone wants to do something truly unique, anyone know if a 2nd gen dash would fit in our cars? I love the way the 2nd gen TA dashes looks, but the camaro's aren't that bad either, and they're definatley not something you'd find in a caravan. And they make reproductions, too.

And so what, the dashes crack eventually. My tires get bald after a while too....

i think that dash swap is great, not because "how good it looks", but i like it cause im amazed it fits. Ive never heard of anyone swapping dashes in a car, and never would think that it fits....looks like the 4th gen dash fits perfectly....thats why im amazed

Almost fit's perfectly. There's still gonna be a little, but somewhat noticeable gap on either side of the dash. And then, there's that whole thing with the A pillars....

And the dash pad has to be trimmed a lot, but no big deal.
