I have been thinking about doing the back of my car differently than just a hatch with a big piece of glass on it. I was thinking more along side of the notchback, but the sides kinda of have the same line that the hatch is (higher than the normal notchbacks), but the inside has the ferrari louver like things on two ends. (Like one next to the other in the middler). They would be sticking up, like a lambourghini countach (sumtin like that). I am photoshoping some pics right now, so I'll post them in about half hour.
Let me know what you think.

Take that back of lambo and imagine it on the notch back.
Here is a little paint chop up I did in few minutes.
Note how on the sides, the notchback is actually higher than than the ones we've seen around and it actually matches the hight of the hatch. What I did is try matching the line from the top of the car and try to slant it least possible, but also try to make it not too big on the back. The results seem good. What do you think???

If a hatch could be made to smoothly integrate the rear of a thirdgen and still have those larger scalloped louvers like that lambo along with the raiseed sections on the outer/lowered middle then it might look okay. I don't know if it could be done though. I'd like to see someone with glass skill attempt it though. I think unless you did a rollpan type thing shaving the rear bumper down then it'd be pointless because the car would look way too long.
BTW, someone needs to make a rollpan for thirdgens.

I didnt know my babies are backwards, nor did I really pay attention. They are cool rims none the less.
Hawks notchback is actually pretty damn close to the dimensions I had in mind for the notchback
. All thats needed in there are the lambo vent scoops.
The only reason i am really pushing this is, cuz I saw a 80's vette (boxy ones) and its had that kind of notchback with those lambo scoops and it looked really good. From the front it looked like a thirdgen (same lines) but from the back it looked really .... FAST (i guess). The only thing I dont like about hawks notchback is that its 700 bucks. Thats a lot.
I am thinking more alongside of 200 bucks. It is fiberglass after all.
My friend does fiberglass and although he never did cars, he thinks he could fab up something like that for 150 with materials. (he's got some hookups and he wont charge me labor). Its just a matter of getting his lazy *** to do it.
I made some sketches of the back notch, but my scanner really sucks on my computer. Its not xp compatible, so all I get is black instead of the picture.

Cheap ***. You're buddy would be the only person to charge you that. You can barely get a popular hood done for 300, what makes you think more fiberglass, less production is going to be cheaper?

The notchback already looks hideous...can't imagine wha this design would look like.

As far as the design... not in the advert links anymore but, GT & RamAir both had repo notches that extended like the glass.
Basically what the 88 Fiero GT's looked like minus the glass filler.
A search would produce styles like..

I agree about letting ferrari be a ferrari.
However, I just wanted a somewhat different look than every other third gen.
I am a cheap ***
.
I am thinking about doing all of my work on the car. Even fiberglass and welding. I am really into costumizing, and third gen is a great platform.
I also want to make them fast because people dont belive that third gens are fast.
I will prove them wrong.

I think of all notchbacks the factory style one works well, and the one once made by motion glass which was slightly longer on the sides than the factory notchback. I do not like the way the notches that have the same slope as glass look. I think that type would look good on a car that had a lower roofline in the rear like panteras.

Aforementioned ebay Ferarri hatch. The auction ended almost exactly 90 days ago, so I'm attaching the pictures instead of linking to them since ebay takes them off after that long.
"I have had this ferrari Hatchback on my latest 1989 GTA pictured. This Ferrari looking rear hatch is one left of 50 we made in 1986. It is fiberglass and red for now ... It changes the complete look of your car and girls love it ... Weighs about 50 Lbs, lighter than glass hatch. "
Sold for $499.00.

If someone did some body work to raise up the quarters a little bit as well as grafting a spoiler onto that they it might look good.

Do something totally different. I thought about it befor I did the vert.
Take a vert deck lid (trunk hatch) and get a Perry SpeedGlass lexan rear window.
do something like this
