Thinking about fixing up the body while Im in school...keep original paint?

Hello. I am in high school for the last year. And I am in the second year of my auto body/refinishing class. I just got my camaro and it has very minor body damage and a couple very very minor paint flaws. I was thinking...should I spend the money and go ahead and make the body flawless while I still have the chance to do it myself and spend minimal money, even though the damage is almost nothing. And also, I have been told that my color/color combo or w/e is pretty rare. It is the dark silver with charcoal ground effects. Should I keep that color? Because I can go ahead and do something wild for just the cost of paint. And my teacher is a professional bike painter, along with custom airbrushing and crazy effects. The thing is, I can barely justify ripping up the paint on my near perfect camaro, the only real parts with problems are the doors, with 2 and 3 dents each. What do you guys think?

No. I go to a tech school with top quality stuff. We paint with all spies hecker, and we have a professional paint booth. I just finished my summer job at fitzgerald dodge dealership in paint, and everything they used (the paint, the booths, etc) was exactly the same as at my school. Where did you go?

Keep it simple. Sometimes it's hard to step away from the idea of having a wild paint job, but if this car is a daily driver (or anything close) you absolutely do NOT want to deal with touch-up or repair work later on if you've got wild airbrushed paint. A simple 1 or 2 color paint job will be much easier to touch up later.

Plus, some wild paint job that looks great now will look dated in a couple years. Simple is always in style.

Hi

That colour combo is not very popular but i think it looks wicked. If you do paint it make sure that you prepare all the skirts and bumpers properly. If its not done right you get bubbles in your paint and thats no damn good. If i were you I would get the dents in the door fixed and buy the factory door side molding peice in your colour and put it on. It actually works really good. If someone hits your door with their door it will save you body from being dented.

Yea, I think I will keep it. And, I already painted plastics before including the bumpers on my mom's car. It's been more than 6 months and they still look great, no bubbles. And I do have the moldings on the doors...lol theyre like dented too or something. They're perfectly round...it kinda looks like a dent you would find on a hood after someone sits on it, and you just kinda pop it back out. I might be able to pop them out...we'll see. Thanks for all the input guys.

you can barely see them...near the middle of the door right on the molding. They are two equally sized circles right next to each other. ANd one exactly the same on the other door. And for anyone wondering...thats the color combo I am talking about.
