Getting SMALLER Wheels
Getting SMALLER Wheels
This sounds backwards, but, I have an 89 IROC. Up here in NH, those big 16 inchers are too wide and pricey to run snow tires on and I want to be able to run this car in the snow. Right now, I'm running my 2nd Gen that gets 14 mpg, arrgh! Does anyone know what size/offset/backspacing I could run if I were to get some cheapie steel 15 inch wheelsand put some fairly skinny snows or all season radials? Any info would be much appreciated.
It's even easier than looking for thirdgen; Most all GM cars and 1/2 ton (two-wheel drive) trucks have the same bolt pattern (ex: 68 Chevelle, 72 Nova, 74 Cutlass, 76 step-side pickup, 78 Buick regal, all the way up. You shouldn't have to pay more than 20 bucks per wheel at a junkyard. 15's will fit over your calipers. You might even get away with 14's, but check it out first. Way back when, I had 14X7 Enki "Blades" on the front of my 85 T/A with 15x10 in the back. I know, I know.....tacky as hell.
