Thinking of painting ridges on my '82 T/A tail lights

I have a set of '82-84 T/A tails that are in awesome shape, but the factory tint is not as prominent as it probably was 20 years ago. So I am thinking of painting the ridges/louvers and the outer parts jet-shiney black and a clear coat. Then getting the white center bird from the TTA's. Along with the regular Firebird spoiler (non-aerowing on my '91 T/A) and Fomula hood, I think I will have a nice looking, 1-of-a-kind T/A.

What do you guys think?

I think it might look kind of cool, I think what you are trying to do is make them look like the 15th Anniversary taillights but instead of white, black correct? I've thought about that but didn't know how it would turn out.

i bet if you polished up the plastic lens of the taillights it'd look as good or better than it did new. It'd be a pain in the butt of course with the louvered design.

Exactly, white on white for the 15th, and black on black for mine. Except maybe I might get the TTA center bird. Also, the center peice will be all black, except the red lense, not just the louvers.

I think I will go through with this. The paing shouldn't be too bad at all. I was also thinking of getting the '85-90 center reflective red lense. I feel that will be the most out of place part on the tail lights.
