how to polish my wheels

How do i polish the wheels on my 91 rs. They are the stock 16 inch rims and I have seen them polished before. I like the look, so how do i go about doing this? The tech article here didn't seem like much help. Do i sand? What stripper do I use? What polish do i use? what do i use to rub the polish in? I got a lot of questions. Any help would be appreciated.

I stripped the clearcoat with an acid based "reducer" from Sherman Williams (US-15 or US-4, can't remember), a wood-handled "toothbrush", a FREQUENTLY turned clean t-shirt/rag, and just a tad of elbow-grease. The acetone did most of the work. Then I started with 320 grit sandpaper, switched to #00 steel wool, to #0000 steel wool, Turtle Wax Polishing compound, then the "green" polish from Les Schwab Tires. I taped off the outer, painted the centers, then re-polished the outer with the green. My outers look like chrome, and the painted centers (to match body color) REALLY stand out! Like they always say: if you want something done right, do it yourself!!

go to: www.tir.com/~jaski/wheel.htm , it is a tech article dealing with aluminum fiero rims, but the same principles apply to any aluminum rim that needs polishing.
