On my iroc, it has the lourves *Spelling?* and they look sunbeat as hell, i was wondering what type of paint can i use to repaint them, i assume its the same thing id use on my grill and door handles since they are all the same material, is it just krylon spray paint (ghetto method) or is there some sort of plastic special paint?

 

wish you would have painted my grill messed mine up and had to buy a new one, of course the new one looks awesome but it wasnt free!!

 

I actually just did this recently. I don't have the brand name for you right now but I can get it tomorrow as soon as I get home. I used a plastic specific paint that advertised "no sanding/primer needed" and that it bonded to plastic. I also used a uv-resistant clear coat for it because I had the same problem with them looking sun-beat and I didn't feel like doing it again anytime soon.

So basically all I have to offer you right now are a few tips.

#1, if you're going to do it outside.. well actually, don't do it outside, do it in an enclosed area. I ended up with a damn spiderweb between coats and it wouldn't come off so it ended up leaving a line diagonally across the whole thing.

#2 do light coats and make sure to get EVERYTHING, underneath all the little plastic pieces. If you don't get in and under everything the view from the front of the car will be crappy.
- EDIT - I feel as though this should be said.. I got greedy and wanted it done faster so I did thicker coats. It just drips down and screws everything up. So be slow and allow enough time to dry between coats and you'll be fine

#3 be very careful when taking them off the hood. I broke one of the pegs up close to the windshield and now when i idle, the car shakes it and it bumps up and down. Nothing huge but little cosmetic things that you don't want to deal with I'm sure.

As for the paints, ill post again tomorrow or saturday and hopefully have some brand names for ya, cause aside from the spider web they look GREAT. 100% better than they were. BTW, i used glossy black instead of a flat black. This, combined with the clearcoat made it look beautifully shiny.

P.S. All paints were rattle-can but with enough attention and care it can still come out great.

I believe the one he may have Used was One called "Fusion". I believe is it a krlon product and can be found in automotive stores or in walmart. Works prety darn wel on most plastics.
