Color Change Paint

Anyone know of anyone who has put this on their thirdgen? I'm thinking about getting a Ram Air 2 Hood, an getting that paint job. I'm talking about the one that changes colors as you walk around it.

PS-And for all you "Can't have a nice ride without a v8" guys, I am planning either a 350 or a 454 swap as soon as I make up my mind and get the money, hopefully BEFORE I get the paint job. But don't flame me for doing this to a v6 because i just might anyways.

That paint does look pretty cool on some things. Hope ya got plenty of money, cause the paint is $4500 a gallon and cost more to get sparyed than regular paint.

hmm, somebodys confused.... its called Kameleon Kolor from House of Kolor.
http://www.autobodysupply.net/houseo...orkameleon.htm
little info

its really cool, and i was quoted $450 a pint. wich i found a -non kameleon- color by PPG called "wildfire" (ooooohhhh yeeea, it was sweet) and that was nearly $600 a pint.
so kameleon isnt the most expensive you can go. the $450 was for one that went from red to blue. (i wanted to do flames that changed color and i thought that would look cool)

Kameleon is painted diffrent than regualr paint, but it pretty similar to Kandy colors. which are even nicer in some cases.
http://www.autobodysupply.net/houseo...orkandykbc.htm
more info on kandy.
personally i like Kandy more. the color my vettes gonna be is KandyBrandyWine. its a custom mix. it will be sprayed over high metalliac silver to give it an awesom depth and shine. just find a local paint or body shop and ask to see some samples of kandy colors and kameleon colors.

and my feelings are, if a car looks nice, who cares what engine it has...(ill probably get called a ***** but i still think its sweet...) Honda has made a 4-cylinder engine displacing between 1.9 and 2.2 liters that can one minute do 30 miles per gallon, be re programmed from the dash and put out over 1200 horse power. and thats not a typo. 1200 HP from a puny 4-cylinder. no turbo, nitrous, or super. the secret is there is no camshaft. yet another shocker. its electronicly controlled valves. i think thats badass.
anyway, my point was that "no replacment for displacement" is no longer relative for street use cars. but one thing a V8 has over all others (L4, L6, V6, V10, V12) is a great sound.
oops. long post

There is a lot of rice in my area and this is frequently done here. I have seen good and bad results. One thing to ask is the longevity. Some of these paints, not fade, but turn to a nasty brownish color. The chamelion turns into variations of bronze. This is not worth doing. All the cars I have seen like this are eclipses and jags, but the effect is empressive. I have asked them what it cost to get done and you's be amazed. For just flames, I have heard between 1 and 5 thousand. All the ones I hear around 1K look like crap. The best one I have seen told me he first had what the guys here call gost flames gone in chemielion chipped metal. On top of that he had multiple level 'ruby' paint (yellowish to ruby red) in flames encovering the front of the car. This car looks amazing, but he said the total cost was like 8K.(and it was an eclipse) Seriously, from what I have learned, u get wat u pay for...I would recommend avioding any 'bargians'.

The two color changing paint is $500 a pint, ruffly. $450 is a good price. The three color changing paint is around $1000. Be careful of who you get to paint it. Maybe I'm just a perfectionist at my work, but I've seen some "bad spots" in many show cars.

I just painted my 89 formula RADAR BLUE. It came on 95 S10s, Sonomas, Blazers, etc.

It is actually purple with a TON of blue pearl.

It will change between Blue and Puple depending on the light. Very nice color, Ive got tons of compliments on it.

I believe it was like $280 for a gallon. I little cheaper than the stuff you guys are talking about.

The guy that sprayed it said that it was about as easy to spray as a regular mettalic paint.

a paint job with kameleon will run that high because its not like regular paint. it has to be painted a special way that is a pain to do doorjams and hatch area. the people spending $5000 are getting thier engine compartment painted too, which i recommend, but not with kameleon. its too expensive it accidently drop a wrench and screw it up. on a show car it worth it tho. also there is a kameleon that changes about 8 colors in the whole spectrum. i think it looks a little tacky. it would be drool-worthy if you did say white with silver pearl on the body, and kameleon on the ground effects and spoiler. or do the GFX and spoiler kameleon, and Black with blue metal-flake body. mmmm i may have some new ideas for my upcoming paint job...

I don't like them. They look too much like bare metal with rust and heat discoloration.

Too much money for bad taste.

I'm a painter at a chevy dealership. I just wanted to let you know that Diamont makes color change paint too. It's called Diamont Extreme Color. They made the paint for the Mystic Cobra. It changes four distinct colors and the whole spectrum between those four. Anyway it pretty much kicks *** . They have several to chose from. Prices go from about 350-400 a pint. To do a flame job on your car, a pint would be plenty. Two pints for a allover paint job. Use a black base underneath it. Good luck.

I have seen the paint look really good on a second gen., it was very nicely done. I don't think I would want to paint my car with that stuff though, especially with it being my daily driver.

Also Am i the only one seeing that 85ws6ta is saying that honda makes a 1200 hp 4 cylinder? Or is everyone else just choosing not to comment. I think I would like to see an article of some sort or proof on that one.

I can tell ya that 86v6 isnt lyin either i know two of the guys around central florida with the elispes with that paint job (one guy is frankie and some older guy) the paint is expensive. the guy frankie went to slamfest i believe and got it keyed,,,, cost a fortune to get it redone, cause you cant just touch it up the whole body panel ahs to be redone and that panel has to be matched to the rest of the car. its a bitch to work with but worth it if you can get it right
