How about these tailights??

How about these tailights??
Im not a big fan of clear (all white) or altezza taillights, but I do like the more modern tails where the lens is clear but tinted. So I made a little PS of it to see what it could look like on a pair of grids. Despite the quick hack job, I still thought it came out pretty cool ??

it'd be great if you could get the lenses to be that clear, but I dont think that will happen. Alot of people have done that mod though....looks sharp on the grids....I still want to see someone do my version (which has the amber blacked out) on a pair of grids

be careful when buying aftermarket tail light assemblies...i've heard stories at the body shop in town ( i know the owner) and he says that alot of people get aftermarket stuff like that for older cars and they just don't fit...

i've been trying for a few years to get companies to pick up a clear set of our lights, hell even a reproduction set that wouldn't cost $400+.
hopefully one day but nothing any time soon...

Wouldn't the simplest way to do this be sand it smove inside then spray with transparent paint and then polish?
Maybe just polishing the inside of the stock grids perhaps?
As far as reproduction lights all someone needs to do is make a mold, and then use some kind on transparent material like a clear resin. Not sure about the cost. If using resin I think a vaccume formed mold would be best. Then paint.

Jeez, those are almost enough to make me sell the T/A just for a set of those on a Camaro.. Maybe someobody will do that with the 85-90 T/A or 91-92 Formula style...

I'd be in for something like in the photochop.
But if I ever see someone making Altezzas for a thirdgen, I'm selling my car.

i just did that mod on mine.... if you polish the lenses and get them really clean, they will be really shiney and look somewhat 'clear'
and as much as i love camaroguys tailight setup, i couldnt do it as it would probly be illegal here as i need the blinker to work. and blackin it out probly wouldnt work well.
i still gotta shine mine up, but i like it so far.

I really like it...
Would it be all that hard? I'd think some clear plastic sheets cut, fit, and sealed around stock inner housings painted transparent red on the inside plus a black grid, with polished inner housings would do the trick, no?
Once again, I really like it, and there aren't many thirdgen taillight options that I like better than stock.

I thought of something even easier than my previous suggestion.
Remove the stock lenses and sand the insides smooth, finish with 2000 grit, and polish the heck out of em.
Oh, and do the 'all red' mod too (Testors "Candy Apple Red" transparent model paint, 3 coats over orange, 2 over all of it, and 1 coat on the inside, worked great for my Talon)
To get the real effect I think the chrome inner housings would need modifying too, though. I think they're smooth.
