had a company tell me it could be covered under special interest/collectible, then they went against that statement and turned me down - before even finding out that I'm 19. it's an 88 btw..I guess in 2008 I can try to get classic or collectors insurance again, but I'm sure they'll still consider me too young. Anyone else get by this?

Check with American Hobbyist. I'm getting ready to sign on with them and it will only be $202.50 per year for $15000 agreed value and $0 deductible. They only cover the comp and collision which means I'll be keeping liability with my current company.

Mine's an '83. I have classic/show car insurance through State Farm. It's $152.00 a year for full coverage at a $10,000 agreed value (which I need to adjust upwards).
Of course, I have (4) cars insured through them and no tickets or accidents in the last 10 years. You're rates may vary.

I'm paying around $600 for a 2000 Impala a year, and I'm not the primary driver, but I'm 17.
Does anyone have any specifics on the max mileage? 5000 a year seems kind of high, because that's 8000 kms, and I drive maybe 1000 kms a year, if that.

I have somewhat looked into it, most places said it had to be insured as a specialty/exotic because it is a 91 and insuring it as that would not allow me because of my age now,
I have it insured through the regular company as a "recreational" vehicle, ie a show car, sunday cruiser which dropped my payments WAY down under a 100 a month and as my bravada is the daily driver, peoblem is until i get a appraisal setup i cant add coverage to it, they will insure it to like a agreed value with an appraisal but it cost a little more, i think it be worth it though considering book is like 2k and i have over 15k invested

With regular insurance (even with regular full coverage) you'll only get what the car is worth at the time of loss, usually whatever the KBB or NADA says it's worth.
So if you bought your car for 5k, and put in 10k worth of mods you'll never get back what you put into it with a regular policy.
Main thing is to get an "agreed value" policy. Some companies like Grundy's don't have a mileage restriction but require it to be in a locked garage and not be your primary transportation.
Other restrictions...I know a couple of companies that will only cover you only going to and from car shows. You just gotta do some research to find out what fits your needs.
A lot of the GN guys are doing this because mint low mileage GNs are worth the same what they were brand new back in 86/87. I'm gonna get a policy from Grundy's for my GN.
Usually you'll find classic/collector insurance is a lot cheaper a year than a regular policy.

Mines £240 per year or about $432 under classic insurance, with a limited mileage of about 10,000 miles per year, and an agreed value of about £4000.
Thats fully comprehensive, so if i total it, i get the 4k, or if someone else does, i still get paid, or if anyones unlucky enough for me to hit them, it covers their damage.
10k might seem like not much a year, but its my hobby, and i have m\cycles to insure and ride, as well as my daily driver.

$75.00 a year, full coverage with close to 10K agreed value. No odo police, but they like to see 3K a year or less, locked garage etc.

how old dose your car have to be to qualify for this insurance? dose it verry? i never drive mine but occasionaly, maybe 1000k a year.
I got mine through American Hobbyist, $219 per year, $7500 (may bump it to $10K now that its finished) no mileage restriction (I've driven it 2K in 3 years), but it must be kept in a locked garage and you have to have another vehicle registered for every licenced driver in the house (to prevent the hobby insurance going on a daily driver). The car can be any age, but it must be somewhat limited production/special edition kind of stuff. I told them there were only 809 5-speed GTAs in '88 and they didn't give me a problem. The key for me is to have the car legally insured for a reasonable price. I don't plan on ever filing a claim unless stolen or totaled.
