Want Parking Lights BRIGHTER!
I was wondering if there was anything I could do to make my parking lights brighter. I don't have the foglights so I drive with the parking lights on (looks good, but would look better brighter). Are there any brighter bulb replacements or should I go to a yard and get the foglight grill and install that!
thx guys
thx guys
You can get 2057 bulbs to replace the 1057's in there - be aware that they run hotter (especially if they're on all the time) than the others. I believe they are 20 watts vs. 10 watts. I damn near melted my "daylights" when I wired both elements to be on all of the time. Without cooling they can get damn hot.

Ok....I will now give you the secret...but
there are costs to this.
You can make your parking lights look just
like the newer Vettes and Camaros (the ones
with the always on parking lights).
Basically, you reverse the polarity of the
lights....switch the positive wire to the
negative and vice versa. Turn your parking
lights on now....wow...what a shine huh!
Now...here's the cost....you will no longer
be able to use your front turn signal.
When you signal the light on your dash
will stay on...you'll have to flip it up and down manually to signal a turn. Yoor front parking lights will not flash...only your
side markers and the rear lights.
I have done this to my car and it is
absolutely wicked! I always drive with my
parking lights on now because they are as
bright as the vettes!
Tommy
P.S I will try to get a picture for you
guys tonight.

Thx guys,
I might try to get those bulbs but thx for the heat warning. Where do you get those? Would it be easier to install some after market PIAA lights in the grill or maybe go to a junk yard and get the grill with the factory lights? Would this be a better solution and a nicer look?

I also wanted my parking lights brighter cause I really like the look. I noticed the lights have clear lamps and amber bulbs but in earlier model Camaros (such as the 86? I believe) have orange lenses. Would those lenses fit a 92 RS? Then I can just replace the bulbs with clear ones and but the orange lenses on. Would that be any brighter?

What if you drilled SMALL holes in the lenses to let air get in there to cool the bulbs? Just an idea!

That's what I was thinking, drill a few holes. The housing is thick so I don't see a problem with a few holes. Only problem would be water vapor. You'll need someway to drain any of the water that might get trapped.

No see thats really the problem I think. Mine doesnt have it but most fbodys have the water inside the parking lights problem. I think this actually would help out. Drill the holes and take it for a spin for about 20 mins and that should dry the water inside the lights right?
ok if you drill the front drill it in the top of the lense. and then take the whole lense out and drill 2 small holes in the bottom for water to leak out through. try and make the drill holes on the top point down at a 45* angle since it will be less likely to get water splashed up in there as easy. and i think it might work but when you drive it might whistle also. have fun with it. and try it on some junkyard pieces before you do it to your prized posession.

Can you guys drill holes from behind? By that I mean in the rear of the case? If you were to drill a couple up high in the back the heat would cause any water to evaporate and leave via those holes...
Least I think it would.

If you do rill the lenses, do them at a pretty shallow angle, so the holes will be really long, but then looking at it, a person would have to be at the right angle to see that there are holes.

I have an easier suggestion.
go to www.designtech-intl.com
and purchase a set of their "Super Bright"
bulbs.
I bought a set and they are brighter. One burned out the next day but the other is still going. Not too sure what to make of that but its another option.

Dont drill your lenses. You'll find yourself buying new ones. Even if you drill them on the bottom for the water to seep out, they will ALWAYS be fogged up with moisture, and it looks horrible. Trust me, I have experimented for you. I suggest the reverse polarity thing, or the brighter bulbs. I ended up buying new lenses, and bought bright clear bulbs. I also keep them very clean by rubbing them down with 1500 grit compound and wax them on every wash.
