fiberglass Headlight conversion Idea

I searched and came up with nothin' so.
Would it be bad to make some headlights using fiber glass and some kind of plexi glass? I'm thinking BMW E32 7-series projector headlights as the donors and then making it so they're covered with a clear piece that sits flush with the front housings. The housings would all be once piece each once finished. Also is it possible to get fiberglass chrome plated? I know you can do it to certain plastics but not sure on 'glass. Then I would never bitch about the way my headlights look again.

Actually the E36 headlights from the 3 series (92-98 I think) are a perfect match. I've measured them and they would be good donors. This is a modification I plan to do to my 91Z28. I'm not the guy who came up with this idea though, I think it was ChevyKen and 86IROCNJ (here and here). It sounded good to me so I looked into it more seriously. I'm messing around with an unpainted front clip I have for my Z28 and I say its definately possible. Gonna have to fab mounting brackets and delete the stock piece, also going to have to use something to fill the space around the edges (fiberglass would be perfect). I'm planning to run the glass projectors black backing w/ true HID's. DevianB drew this mod into the concept drawing he made for me:

I found that link 'cuz I read one of your posts about the E36 lights, but these look like thy'd be less of a hassle to fit into a new housing. The E36s would work but I want them flush with the front end like I have the clear covers on them. I figured it would work better with the linked lights but I'm not sure on the size so that's my one problem so far.

p.s. I love your cars and the fact that you drift despite everybody thinking it's a r1cer event. Hopefully we'll compete someday.
