Grand Prix Coolant bottle

I had the hood up on my dad's 2000 Grand Prix the other day checking the oil and noticed how friggin small the coolant tanks (or "bottles") are on those things. Has anybody besides me thought about switching our HUGE tanks out for one of these tiny ones, or am I pioneering this idea? I think it would clean up the engine bay alot, but can it be done?

Anything can be done and it will probably fit most anywhere, the real question is can you make it look like it's supposed to be there

Just "borrow" it for a few hours and see if you can find somewhere that it fits nicely.

I gotta go by You-Pull-It (partsyard) sometime anyways so I might look for one out there to play with. Plus, has anybody deleted their washer fluid tank? I gotta get rid of mine. I never use it, it only streaks up the windows worse.

I know it's just the resivor, but arent they big for a reason? A v8 needs alot more coolant flowing around than a v6?

I didn't like the look of the 2 bottles in my engine compartment. So I used a combination unit I got from a 1991 Ford Exploder. Really cleans up the engine bay.

The bottle is on the left side of the car (drivers) and the battery is on the right side of the car (passenger), so the bottle is on the right in the picture and the battery is on the left in the pic!

4th gen coolent reservoir is totally hidden, will swap into a thirdgen (some sawzalling rquired) and looks factory when its done.

i am doing it on my GTA. keeping the washer reservoir where it is because otherwise my cruise control would get lonley.

heres a link, including photos of the "hackjob" install i did on my 2.8

MNFormula350's car looks pretty clean with that Explorer tank combo. I guess there are tons of ways to clean up our engine bays by using different coolant/washer tanks.

yuck.

those Explorer washer/coolant tanks look like junk like when they are in Exploders lol

(wont argue they take 2 things inot one space however)

For more info and pics on the little overflow tanks from GP's and the like do a search under google or find alkycontrol I believe.

Replaces the overflow with new for the alky and mounts th smaller overflow right next to.

Look under the TTA pics for those who dont know :-)

Nope and the car isn't finsihed yet. You can do a search for posts under my user name and find plenty more pics though.

Yeah, I found quite a few pictures of your progress, and might I say that its looking fantastic.

In relation to this thread: I just picked up a 4th gen window washer bottle and engine overflow and I hope to install soon
