How would I fix my T-tops?
Im 16 and have been around cars my whole life, gone many times to Tulsa Raceway, and my dad recently bought me a 1986 Z28 camaro. Well like in most T-top cars they leak. What can I do to help stop the leaking or at least make it to where they only will leak if its raining real hard? I havent tried to take it into a car wash yet but im afraid to because of the leaking problem. My dad and one of his friends, which has been building cars for years, made the suggestion of siliconing them shut. That would stop the leaking but I actually would like to use the t-tops. Im just looking for some thoughts on what you guys might think. Thanks.

help
if u can try pulling up on t-top to see if its loose while its locked. if u can pull up on it then they need adjusting.to adjust u have to take off the black plastic pieces surrounding the holes where the t-top locks in on the body.from there u will see the plastic piece where the t-top itself locks into on the body.on each one there are 2 bolts loosen the bolts and pull down as much as needed but be sure to pull them down evenly. example there are 2 adjustment brackets per side one in front and one in back. make sure u space them evenly if u bring the back one down 1/2 inch bring the front one down half inch same for the other side also it may not be your t-tops. sometimes the back hatch bolts leak. to check them pull down the plastic piece 4 screws thats in the back above the back seats. if theres rust theres a sign of leaking. take the bolts off and try a gasket sealer on it then put the bolts back on. hope this helps bruce

Or the gaskets need to be replaced. Look and see what kind of shape they are in and if the t-top bar is rusted also while your at it.

New T-top seals to replace the ones from the factory.........NEVER a bad idea. They will be kind of expensive, so if you have a hookup with a GM discount, use it.
