my new GTA!!! 56K beware

just got me a new 88 GTA yesterday! 112K on the clock.
options: 4 wheel disc brakes, 16" wheels, Toyo Proxes4 tires, with under 200 miles on them, 700R4, 5L TPI, brand new exhaust, t-tops, and power everything.
picked it up for $3000, let me know what you think! and give me ideas on what i should do with it.

the Toyo Proxes look awesome

maybe i need a new profile name now?

thanks guys!
i love the car, its funny, i used to be more of a camaro guy, but then i saw steve 383's car, and i was like, "damn! i want one now!"
and now i got one! the motor runs excelent! it has a new exhaust on it from GM, still has the sticker on it! it is a little less powerfull than i expected, but im planning on buying an L98 and completly going through it with new heads, cam, runners, throttle body, headers and full exhaust. i was thinking about stroking it to a 383 too, but ive heard some horror stories about stroking L98's. ill have to research it. Steve383, do you still run the stock TPI setup? i want to keep the TPI.

nice car... Pontiacs have always been the 'better' cars since the late 1960's in terms of options and creature comforts

I think I would agree with that. I like having power everything, and comfy seats. But I wouldnt change the crank window, power nothing, feel every bump in the road of my IROC for anything.

Love the car- very sweet!!

Does the GTA have the LB9 305 or the L98 350? I thought the only way to get the LB9 in the GTA was to order it was a 5 speed stick? Or was the LB9 a delete/credit option?

Either way, great car!!

Thanks! It has the LB9 305 unfortunetly, but i will probably change that eventually. Im not really sure about the options on TA's, I just recently got into them! It has the 700R4 auto tranny.

OH! It has a brand new exhaust on it, might have mentioned before, but Im thinking of getting a Borla system for it. comments, advice?

Very nice! You would've paid 5 grand for it around here.......so very nice grab. Looks clean. IF you replace the exhaust, I have heard GREAT things about the banks cat backs......just gotta call them.

not bad , if it were mine id do the wheels black instead of gold, and put a gold hood bird on . And paint the gfx gold. But those are getting really specific.

yeah, i actually really like the wheels. the white/gold contrast is awesome. i think when i repaint it i got a couple ideas. i reeeeeeally like steve383's car, and id love to do that same paint scheme. but right now it has excellent paint, so im not going to repaint it for quite some time. although it does need some touch ups, the wing...
when i do paint it, ill get rid of those dang door bumpers! i dont like them, they dont look bad, but i think our cars look 100% better without them.

I have borla on my car. It came with the engine. The thing I like about it is that you can put different plates in it to quite/louden the sound. I haven't tried any different ones yet, though.

Great find!! That looks like a really clean GTA.

First thing I'd do is get rid of the pinstripe. Actually the FIRST thing that came to mind while reading your post was "drop in a 350!!", but it looks like you already know that.

really? thats pretty cool! id love to get the chambered exhaust, but for $800 i dont think so! i think i might go with a borla exhaust, hows it sound? oh, and once i do decide, this exhaust is up for sale! its brand spankin new. so thatll be enough to get me a new cutout that i want for it too!

Haha, yeah i deffinetly am thinkin about droppin in a 350 TPI. or if i save alittle while longer, i might just get an LS1 T56 combo for her. depends on the budget when the time comes.

Nice ride man, Mine camn from Seattle and I got it for $2800 with 111K on it. One lady owner and unmolested. I've got the LB9 with the T-5. For what it is, it runs good, but no 5.7. Mine also had a new GM factory exhaust on it which I switched to a Flowtech (Holley) Afterburner, it sounds awesome. Also added all the goodies listed in my sig. Sooner or later I'll have a 5.7 in her. You can probably find your buildsheet under the rear seat and decode it on the GTA Sourcepage (google it) it has everything. They only made 366 of mine with the LB9,T-5, Borg Warner 3.42.

That looks like a nice unmolested example. It looks like you got a pretty decent deal, since gta's are demanding quite a bit more money these days. It truly is a treasure when the front gaps arent all fuxor haxored...

If my eyes aren't deceiving me, i think i see a tad bit of rust... that's the first thing i'd look into if that was my ride..

sweet lookin car, I got one exactly like it just 2 years older with the saddle interior...do yourself a favor and pull the body effects one weekend and make sure it isnt rusting anywhere underneath. My ground effects had rubbed though the paint and started bubbling up the paint with some surface rust. Water gets underneath their and no good way to get out I guess....
