flush door locks?

opinions on flush door locks. They do this on 4th gens but their doors are not made of steel. If I do something like this would I have to worry about it being prone to rust since water could sit in there?

why dont you just shave them and get a keyless entry? then you wouldnt have to worry about those things.

when and if I get the car done, i plan on hibernating it during the winter months and disconnecting the battery. I was originally planning on shaved door handles and locks. If its Now, I'm looking at other options.

I will either leave the lock the way it is or shave it.
