Is it ok to polish exhaust tailpipes

Axle/Gears: 3.42 Posi,4.11 posi
Is it ok to polish exhaust tailpipes
I know this probably seems like a dumb question, but I just had to ask it because I heard some people say that its bad to polish aluminum intake tubing, and I figured it may be because it gets hot, so I figured I'd ask if it was ok to do it for exhaust pipes.
