Thanks for the compliements everyone. the headlight pockets will be staying body color, i think it would look weird with the ghost flames / black pockets.
but i definitely agree on the contrast. At first i didn't like it, because it was such a big change. But it keeps growing on me more and more now. I think the front of the car looks meaner (as superGMan said)

Definitely agree on keeping the pockets the way they are. You are right it would torally screw up the clean Ghost-Flame look that is the essence of the whole car.
I don't even know about foglights.

the ghost flames are so good, you don't even notice them first take.
i keep forgetting they're there. in that sense, i change my vote! haha.

Thanks guys. Ive thought about the factory fogs, i like them on the stock 91-92 Z's, but im not sure how they would look with my custom look. These cars already have so many lights on the front already... hmm something to think about though

I think your headlight buckets need to match the grill. Either spray the headlight buckets or put the red grill back on. The combo you have now looks like every single thirdgen Z on the road that got a sloppy repaint (i.e. no black headlight buckets). At least with the red grill, it followed a theme and looked intentional.

Your car looks amazing! Looks even better with the black grill imo. You can always look into aftermarket fogs if you don't like the factory ones. I've got aftermarket ones on mine, but they're only there cause I'm too cheap to replace them. I think your car looks great with out em though.

I think the black headlight buckets would ruin that car! then it would look like every thirdgen Z that someone slaped slicks on. I hate black head light buckets, they date the car to the 80's
. you painted the car right the first time. the black grill though added to the car def.

The body colored one looks better imo...added to the custom look of your car. The black one looks more stock and not as clean looking.
Still an awesome ride though...what ever grill you have.

Pshhh, I know, who would want their thirdgen to look like it's from the 80's.

I personally thought your car looked great with the body colored grill. It made it stand out from other cars. If you do decide on keeping the black one I would also paint the pockets black. However, from a distance this will make your car look like every other red thirdgen out there. Your car is far from ordinary.
Now that I've read a few more posts, these guys are right. I could make out you're car in any photograph just because of the hood/grill. Now that you've changed to the black one, it will blend in so much more. I don't know if you want that. Personally, it's one of those choices that will boggle you're mind but if you want to "stand out" and be different, than for sure stick with you're original setup. They both look good IMO as thats why every other 3rdgen guy out there does the black grill and pockets. But for the record, you're old setup looked awesome! I've always loved you're car so no matter what you do to it, I'll always like it...lol
Just don't stick a wing on it or something

I think the body coloured grill looked better.. but then again I do like the contrast.
Perhaps if you painted the bowtie black on the body coloured grill it would give it contrast but still definatly have that custom look. Maybe even a solid black bowtie instead of a outlined one.
Food for thought.
Your car is one of my fav's anyway, perhaps I'll stroke my 305, lol!

I like the look with the black grill, but I think you shouldn't get fog lights. Like you said, they wouldn't look as good with the custom look you're going for. I think that maybe a custom intake plumbing would be even better than having fog lights in there. Maybe a custom K&N cold air kid with either the flat filters or the cone filters, both would work nicely. You could even put a black screen in front of the filters to kind of hide them if you wanted to.

well, in my opinion. black headlight pockets look real good with clearcoat. ever notice how the factory color was just flat black? thats looks outdated. but with clear it looks fresh, another thing, there are other colors than just black for headlight pockets
,.....however in my opinion thirdgens were meant to have a color contrast in the front. it takes away from how many lights there are....but the body colored grill looks better with the setup you have.
