Found this in a Junk Yard, is it a Good Find?

This was on a 82 Z. It was looked horrible when I found it, all covered in dirt and who knows what else. I spent some time cleaning it up and tried to start some sanding (320 grit), but the paper kept getting clogged and I didn't want to mess it up. The body shop at the dealer I work for wants $325 to paint it, of course they'll be prepping it and fixing the 3 spots that needs some filler. But I can't decide if I want to spend that much. What do you guys think? Is it worth $325 to put on my car? Should I get another estimate on the painting?

i would get another price i would do it for around 150-200, and that is mostly paint cost but the dealer body shops make there paint inhouse so it should be cheaper. i have a fiberglass twin turbo hood for that car that i would sell for around 350 painted, to give you an idea of what you can get.

nice find. I know I'd like a fiberglass hood if I could find one for a good price.

less weight is always a good thing.

sweet! how much weight does that save over a conventional steel hood?

25-50 lbs?

can't wait to see it painted...

Incorrect sir, you called dibs on the center console clock! Which your not even using .

I wonder what people were thinking seeing me drivin up rt 1 with a hood on the roof, we should have taken a picture of that.

Anyways, here is a crappy pic of it before I worked on it?

ive wasted one before, let it go to junk

was on an 83 Z

hav ing it painted should not cost anywhere evne remotely near that much, you can find a small time local guy in his own little shop who will paint it for cheap and do a damn good clean job

ask around, ask the racer guys and hot rod guys in your town, they will know who to ask and find

good luck

well if you could ship it to me and all prices were resonable, I'd take it off your hands.

I am actually guilty of doing that too. When I had my 84 I had to replace the entire front end and got a hood from the junkyard. I had no other way of getting it home so on the roof it went. I bet people were like wtf Hood looks good though. I had the same hood on my 83 before I got a cowl.

Incase anyone is interested, I can sell the hood for $150 plus shipping or $150 picked up, I am pretty sure the hood qualifies for DHL shipping so it will range from $35 to $100 depending on how far you are from NM

This is not the classifieds guys. Try to keep it half way sane. Duke if you want to sell the hood list it over there. I think he wanted opinions on the repair of his hood.
