I just painted my car today and I had a few questions. I painted it with a single stage paint and no clear coat. I had a few minor runs and i'm going to use the razorblade/1000 grit sandpaper technique to get them out. Is it ok to sand on the paint a day after it has been painted and I also need to know about buffing the car. What kind of buffing compound should I use? I heard not to use any kind of wax or anything until about 3-6 weeks after it has been painted is this true? Thanks for any information!

Go to the local auto paint supply and get 3m products, perfect it compound and machine glaze ftw.

And I usually don't recommend wax for a few months to be on the safe side. Until the paint is fully cured because wax will seal it and your paint job will start to come up.

also, if you want to make sure you don't sandthrough, you can spend a couple of bucks and buy the small hard blocks that you can actually sand with. A little smaller so you can focus on the run and not so much the area around the run.

 

why no clear??? yea get 3M stuff, thats all i have used and it works almost without flaw.
