Refinishing your Gold GTA rims...
I would love to fix up my GTA rims. There are two problems with them.
1. The metal rim is nicked and scratched in places and needs to be polished. This isn't too hard to do and would just take time.
2. The gold lace needs to be repainted because it is fading badly. Now comes the harder part. Where can you get a correct gold color paint from? I am really trying to avoid the whole "aftermarket" look when I repaint the lace so I am trying to see where I could find the correct color match. There are plenty of Gold paints out there, just wondering if anyone has attempted to do this to their wheels and what their results were.

Frankie Rider has refinished some GTA wheels and should be able to tell you what paint he used. I would look at Eastwood's selection of colors. I'd bet that they would have a color that's exact or at least very close.

I agree with Jim, Franie Rider at the GTA Source Page had a detailed posting on restoring the gold laced rims. If memory serves he also mentions an aftermarket outfit that supplies them. Good luck.

Since everybody's mentioning me..... maybe I better check in here.
The correct color for the GTA rims is Code 52 Gold Metallic. The paint that I got for my wheels came from PPG and is listed in their books as a wheel paint color.
If you look on your car's SPI tag, towards the end you will see the code 52P..... that is the wheel color code for the GTA rims.
The wheels Classic Industries sells are exact duplicates of the OEM rims (trust me, I have both kinds.....), but at much better prices..... alas, the only color they come in is black; so refinishing is a must for application on a GTA.
Hope this helps.....

Thanks for your help everyone!
This 52P color, is it available in spray paint bottles for anyone to buy, or is it only available to auto painting shops?

You can have it put into aerosol cans when it is mixed (I have this done all the time for touchup work and such), but you'll have to go to an automotive paint store to get the paint itself.
I've never seen it in a premixed form (DupliColor, etc.). Sorry.....
