thanks man, it was a labor of love last winter, I spent about seven grand total(including the car). The guy who used to own it, beat the s**t out of it and I got to fix it. I consider it reborn. Thanks for the input.

yea, that looks great! What do you have to do to get it to look like that? A complete restoration/rebuild or just a new paint job and interior? Lets see some more pics, my desktop needs a new background

I replaced the front nose, spoiler,dr. side fender, and dr.side doorskin. The interior was done by mr.mike's out of florida. The paint was by a buddy of mine. It was ripped to pieces to paint(color changes are a pain).
When I get more pics on my computer, I will post. thanks.

OMG! That is beautiful!!
Ok, tell us about the interior, PLEASE! My interior is the exact interior that used to be in that car. I want to change it out for a different color. How much was the interior? Where did you get all the peices?Do you have any more pics?
***Update
Ok, I am a dumbass, I just read about the interior being done by Mr. Mikes. Was it a custom job? Or are you able to order all the peices as needed? BTW. I am familliar with Mr. Mikes, and was looking his way for the door panels.

Love that color combo. What color top did you put on it, tan...I hope? I wish you hadn't changed the grill though, it takes away from the RS look. Great job on the color change, its so difficult to execute properly.
I got you beat on my resto. I've spent a grand total of 2,200 dollars including the car. Putting on a new fender, top (with glass window, the spoiler I just purchased, and more paint this spring/summer in time for the MacGathering in June. I'll have spent 3,200 total.
Before
After
I haven't been able to do much work b/c of the snow and other bad weather the north east has had this year.

I have found a 1988 Camaro Convertable that is read too. I would like to change the color of it. What was involved. Did you take off the doors and stripthem to bare metal, same with the hood, fender etc. How did the paint job cost?

If it were only that easy. To do it correctly, it involves ripping the car down to nothing. Taking the interior out, the motor, and all the body parts off the car, and painting them 1 piece at a time. To do it yourself, you're looking at about a year to complete (implying you have a job and a life).
To have a pro do it is very expensive, upwards of 10,000 but an average job is 4-5,000. It won't go into as much detail as it could, but it will cover up where the paint would be most visible to say someone looking to buy one.

hey man i would consider that reborn also.
and not to dis you, but why didnt you shave the door handles. i mean while you were at it. it really isnt that hard.
and hey when you replaced the door skin what did that entail doing? i am thinking about doing it since i have the smallest little rust spot. and i know if i repaint the car, after taking care of it, it will come back, and i want all new panels so i am thinking about doing this to the doors? how do are they on, i heard welded, but if you have any details please help.
oh and i think the grille looks nice. a nice custom finish.

a buddy and I painted the car at the bodyshop he worked at after hours. We had it ripped down to a shell. The rear quarters were pantied on the car, and the jambs along with the quarters. Everything else was set up like a jungle gym in the booth. Took about two nights to paint everything. I would say you are looking at about 2500-3500 to do a full color change,if you prep it all yourself. My paint was over a thousand just for the materials. If you know anybody that can paint good, without taking it to a shop, that might be the way to go. The reason I didn't shave the door handles, was I wanted something to break up the side of the car. Most people don't put the body line molding back on either, but I liked the way it looked. Putting on the door skin did take some work. Grind the edges of the front, back and bottom of door, then break spot welds at the top inside the front and back of the door. Then line the new one up, roll the edges over on to the frame of the door and re-weld the top. I really liked the fog light grill, so that's why I did that. Just thought it looked neat. I have some pics of the nose with the RS grill in it. When I find them, I will post. Thank you all for the compliments. I really appreciate it.

jester731,
I haven't purchased the top yet, and won't for a little while (read below). It will be made by an upholsterer that did my friend's GTO and he did fabulous work. It is custom built and I don't know of the availability of it.
Update: Just got set back another 600 by a careless hit and run driver. My car was parked in the same spot all my cars have been parked for the last 3 years and someone backed into it. The bitch of it all is it was my neighbor and she won't admit it and she has no paint on her car (god damn Ford/Mercury POS). I have pics and will post them eventually. Until then, the top is again put on hold (I'm so pissed off, I spent a lot of time making that bondo-ed fender look exactly like the other side).

I'm not a huge fan of that color interior, but the quality of that interior looks amazing. Mr.Mikes did an awesome job on those panels. you think he could do mine too?

Sure, go head and build a twin. That would look pretty neat side by side. I have the engine and trans out right now to freshen them up. I'm painting the engine body color and putting on the edelbrock elite series valve covers and air cleaner. It is getting nice out around here and the engine still has another week at the machine shop. I can't wait to get it back together.
