White Walls/Lettering

i see them on a lot of trucks, im wondering what they look like on third gens. I like white lettering, though i think it looks best on drag cars. if you have white walls/lettering on your tires post pics!

thanks

i thought the same thing until i saw an iroc w/ white letter tires. looks better on a second gen. i think its distracting from the clean lines and apperance of our cars and in my opinion its the clean lines/simple appearance that makes our cars stand out!

My 2 Cents

My personal opinion depends on the car color. White or light cars look good with white walls. Kind of gives it that old school muscle car look. Just My opinion. My car has the same type tires too and its also white.

i think it looks cool on the cars without ground effects like that white firebird and your car Tobias. i put white wall tires on the trucks and SUV's at work and i always wonder what they would look like on a 3rd gen. You know what would be cool...to take a 91-92 formula and get the Ronal wheels and firestone firehawk tires with big white FIREHAWK lettering. too bad firestone doesnt make tires in that profile

Personally, I like the white lettered tires too, especially on sport coupes especially. I don't think it would look to great on lowered cars, but I haven't ever seen one...

Take a look at 85camarodude's car.

I think they look good on more simple cars, with smaller wheels.

Like on an IROC with all the decals, white letter tires would be too much.

But on my old 87 Z28, I think it looked good. It was just a simple blue car with the stock 15 inch wheels.

I wish I had a better picture of my camaro, Its been lowered a couple inches and has white walls and the stock 15 inch rims. Completely agree with Jay87Z on the small tires. If you have 17 or bigger 16 is sometimes pushin it depending on your own tastes, white walls take away from the look of the rim. Smaller rims you need that white lettering to give the whole wheel package a good clean look. Its probably pretty tough to find white letter tires for 17 or bigger wheels anyways.

I used to really love them on almost any car...Now everyone is so into the just black look.

I agree, once you go too big on a tire size they would look out of place.

On the other hand, Third Gens can make any damn tire look good...;-)

I think it depends on the car I think they stand out on any 1st and 2nd gen. I bought a '85 new with Eagle GT Z rbl's and replaced them with Eagle GT rwl's and thought it looked better. I think larger wheels and low profile tires should definately be rbl's.

The raised whites look awesome with the 15" wheels, any bigger than that is iffy (if you can even find them for that size). They don't take away from the lines of the car, they add to it since the car was designed to look good with them. I wanted raised white lettered tires, but now I think I just want to get new wheels.

I do think white letter tires look good on any sport car. Now I also think that if you REALY want to go old school (I was there) Kelly Super Chargers, with white lettters and Cragers. That will be going on my car in Spring.

yeah I think the white letters look cool. They go good with black rims. But drag cars do make them look good with those huge tires.

and "92vert" im hoping you at least know how to upload pics from a camera (or scanner) to your computer. you can either click the "Manage Attachments" and upload it when you make a post OR you can host your own photos at Free Image and Video Hosting - Photo Image Hosting Site : Photobucket.com you have to set up an account, but its free. they will give you links that u can just copy and paste into your post. I would like to see pics of your car so hopefully u can get them on here

White letters look better with the 15" old style z28 wheels. Because the wheel was painted and so plain looking the white letter kind of brought it out. And on a non-flashly gray 3rd gen with painted silver wheels you need all the help you can get.

Thanks, the wheels and tires get a lot of compliments at the shows. I wasn't sure about the white letters at first, but I am glad I put them facing out. My 79 has white letters but most 3rd and 4th gens don't.

People don't like to use them on later Camaros because they think raised whites are only for white trash and NASCAR fans.

I can't remember the exact name of the wheels, but they fit a Chevy S-10(obviously because of the same bolt pattern). I think a version of them are called Daytona Mods or something like that. It's funny, I have the only car in the area with these wheels. All the rest are on trucks They definately set the car out from a crowd. Having the tires wide enough to almost stick out past the fenders helps a little too.One guy at a local tire store likes them because I didn't go with the acorn style lugnuts. The ones I used are standard style open end so the wheel studs stick out a little. Gives it that "race car" look.

This is my car before and after while letters on the same rims... Old tires were 235/60/15 rear, 215/60/15 in front...new were 245/60 rear 215/60/15 front...the letters are still kinda blue, it took a few washes to get the bright white. Only downfall is the rims are 15x7 all around, so I cant go wider in the rear. Cars is also lowered with Eibach Pro Kit 1 inch or so

Tell me what you think, Im just now getting around to posting images of my car...the first pic is how i got it, but the front fender/bumper were cracked...so new fenders, new front bumpers and lip, 4"fiberglass cowl, 1 inch lowering Pro-Kit with KYB Gr-2s, Tires all around, brakes up front, Flowmaster cat back, with removed cat and a full black interior swap, new clutch, starter, flywheels, bearings, slave cylinder...the car was in real rough shape, So i did most of the cosmetic stuff now this winter its getting a new motor/tranny and hopefully paint.

they look ok on the early thirdgens, I think, but they don't they need 'em. Lower profile tires don't need them at all, tho
