Keep us updated on that dash fiberglassing you're doing. All of our dashes will eventually get that way and alternatives to ebay are a great thing to have.

im a junior in highschool, and my 92 gets some attention but not that much. everyone is into rice and fart pipes around here when someone asks what i drive they usually know which car im talking about. theres really not that many 3rd gens in my area (i have the only 3rd gen in the lot out of 1900 kids.) it still pisses me off ive had about 3 kids say nice "camaro" , and one kid even said nice CorvettE!

BTW, nice job you guys its good to see other kids my age with projects they are working on and actually following through with and that are not ricers. i like the fiberglass dash pad idea that would look awesome with a custom guage cluster and guages.

Hey everyone I have a question. well as I'm doing some body work I came arcross the gas tank door. no big deal but I am planning on shaving the door handles and side markers and have no idea on what to do with the gas tank door. I just think it might look out of place with everything else cleaned up and the gas tank door is still stock. So does anyone have any good ideas on how to change the look of the gas door or just clean it up???

hey guys small update here well maybe a big update finnaly got my rebuild kit ordered and in. I ended up going with a master rebuild kit with everthing minus the piston cause the pistons in the kit are the same a what was in the engine so I didn't bother buying the same thing that I already had (old pistons are fine). Also I ended up upgrading to moly rings, a upgraded timming set, and A better cam and new lifters. the cam Dur. @ .050 is INT. 204 And EXH 214. witch is pretty close to the cam in the Lg4 engine thread for better performence. So anyway thats where Im at I need to finish my heads and then Ill be getting started on putting the engine back to geather. Finnaly somthing is about to be put back to geather then torn further apart

Re: Project car for $500

awsome man i got my 86 t/a when i was in the 10th grade and everyone loved my car except my gf at the time cause it had no a/c and everyone liked it better than her honduh lol but i went to a school where everyone has 4x4s or old american v8 cars. everyone loved it then the motor went out halfway through my jounior year and i built a 305 to learn on and had it back at school near the end of my senior year and most of the girls said i drove a loud pos and adn the guys either said it was bad *** or a fast pos lol had te interior pulled apart and started on body wrk so she looked rough. but congrats on find and build have fun w/ it but warning the fbody bug doesnt go away ive had my 86 and still do a 85 t/a for parts a 98 camaro for dd and juat got a 82 t/a for $500!!

Re: Project car for $500

Good work man I always had to fight to get my car into my schools auto shop but were an ayes program so they were pretty up tight about outside projects. My first car was a 1990 RX-7 and every one thought I was crazy to sell that for my 87 t/a but my senor year I had this to show stupid ricers

Re: Project car for $500

Come Sept. Ill be a senior in high school. Started off with a Chevy truck. Bought that oct. Of last year. Moved onto my 89 Rs about a month or two ago. Am i glad i made that choice. So far most like it even though its not a looker. Mainly because its something i paid my own money for built my self and runs better then half the peoples cars at school. My girlfriend loves the car. Except when i make her drive it. Then she goes from a smile to a scared ****less face...

Keep the third gen alive and keep on building them. Letting us all know every step of the build.

Re: Project car for $500

Thanks guys o yeah I forgot to tell you at first when the engine was done the car didnt run great and then came the end of school so I towed it home with a tow rope well I got about half the way home and the guy towing me tookoff to fast and tore the front impact bumper off and tore up the front bumper cover alittle bit where the bolts are that connect into the fender. but I need a new bumper cover before paint anyway... but still it sucks cause it popped all the plastic rivets from the impact peice to the mount that bolts onto the frame. Well good thing I just got a tig welder that welds aluminum so I can weld the two back to geather .

Also about the BUG.I recently pick up a 1993 factory yellow firebird it only has the 4.3 liter in it and the trans was shot but its being rebuilt. and the car didnt run a fuel pump fixed that though And the car is in AWSOME shape for being a 93 with 167k miles.

Ill try and get some pics up soon once I get the impact bumper back on.

your in for a treat when u get to block down the primer......after that wet sand with 400, then 600......then spray your base.....the the hard part.....do about 3 coats of clear.....water sand out your runs with 2k grit....then buff, and believe me u gonna have runs when u clear it....
