Repairing Vinyl Bra
Repairing Vinyl Bra
Well, I found a really old Vinyl bra and I managed to clean up the black so it looks acceptable, but I noticed that the Z28 sticker is peeling. What's better? Sticker or paint?

well, first off to answser your question, my thougts would be that the vinyl is flexible and paint might crack in time, so a decal might be better. But also, not sure what your paint looks like now but ive heard people say that bras have ruined their paint over the years from dirt and the vinyl rubbing on it, just to letcha know.

yea i agree with red92bird. bras will eat your cars paint alive. we get these in shop all the time at school. actually a mustang came in that had a bra on for a while that paint was so trashed it had rusted a hole right through the hood. bras are ok for long trips or whatever but not to keep on a daily driver. thats my .02 anyway

bra's depend on how well you take care out it, i had one on a 96 saturn SL2 we pulled behind our motorhome and when we sold it paint look brand new under the bra, same goes for the bra on front of the motorhome, and if you ever get in an area with love bugs you will love a bra, try cleaning love bugs off of fiberglass on a motorhome that is 12 ft high and 8 1/2 ft wide.....trust me its alot easier to clean that vinyl, LOL. Keep in mind i wasn't on dirt roads and the bra was removed every other month and washed behind it and the felt on back was cleaned BTW go sticker, but make sure you clean the vinyl with a good cleaner that will take off any vinyl shine you put on it.....i heard that black leather cream for shoes will bring a black bras color out good, a shoe or boot store may have it (not the hard black polish this cream is like car wax)

I have painted a few dozen cars from bras, if you drive at any speed they will move (unless you glue it down) which beats up your paint. My firm belief is bras are for girls not cars, but to answer the question use a sticker it will flex much better than the paint (first time you pull it off the paint will crack). I also have never had an issue with the love bugs coming off my cars (granted a motor home is a pain to clean anyway)

i honestly dont see why you would want a bra anyway.. looks like crap and does nothing for performance..
back to topic: you can get a vinyl repair kit and be done with it.. or just get some glue and glue the z-28 back on..

Love bugs can be a pain on the motorhome!!! the bra dont cover above the windshield so i still know some what!!! main reason i had it on the satty was because it was towed behind the motorhome
But as for on 3rds i wouldn't put one on mine, alot of people are putting that clear 3M stuff on the front of their cars, you can't tell its there till you get close to it, holds up good to rock chips... once again not on my 3rd.....just got to get them darn love bugs off fast, they can eat paint like crazy. Truckers use pam cooking spray in the heavy love bug season nothing sticks to it LOL
