Just obtained a 94 firebird that now houses my 406,t56 from my 87 that is now totalled..(RIP) Anyways it was a Georgia car and had sat for a long time from what I can tell..
Well it has water spots all over the hatch glass that will not come of!! I have washed and washed, used steel wool, mother wheel polish being its an abrasive.. No good.. Even tried paint thinner..

Any thoughts?

If you have a high speed rotary buffer try some Meguiar's #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner. It is quite possible, though, that the mineral deposits in the water actually etched into the glass. In that case you're sort of screwed - polishing glass, and I mean polishing in the sense of polishing metal or paint, is nearly impossible.

Zaino has some glass stuff that WILL take it off with a lil bit of rubbing. i used it on my 89 formula and the glass looks brand new. had much water spot action before hand. another friend has a 92 heritage and used my then later bought his own after how well it worked on his. and i also used it on my 86 S-10 with equally excellent results.

white vinegar and you'll be fine, rub it on and spots come off. if not get some rubbing compound and have at it.

I've always washed my windows using windex and "newspaper". Sounds weird but newspaper works so much better than other rags and stuff. Try it and see. My windows look perfect when done.

look in the yellow pages for automotive detailers and look for a company that sell detailing supplys, they have a product, not sure of the name but is like Water Spot Remover, its made for windows, u can use that with 0000 (super fine) steel wool, but try this first 0000 steel wool and a GOOD automotive glass cleaner (like stoner) use the steel wool as if it was a paper towel, the clean the window like normal..... BTW thats a Detailer secret LOL not anymore .............. also the news paper trick as mention above is all detailers use on normal conditions for cleaning windows, i know you used the steel wool before, if you allready did it with the good glass cleaner than just do as i mentioned first

None of you guys have hard water in your house?
I would try LimeAway first. Or the Menards brand...Lime Out....or even CLR. Test it on a spot...you should be able to watch it fizz a bit...then rinse off.
Unfortunately, my city water is just hard enough to require me to use one of the above products to keep the sinks/toilets/showers clean.
HTH...
