How come 99% on Camaro's dont have the louver's on them? Mine was on there from the factory, one peice aluminum. I know their noisy, but is there any reason? Lets hear those comments!

I think that most people think that they lock the vehicle into an outdated 80's modification fad, or that they are ugly. As smooth as the bodylines are of an 3rd gen adding a set of serated louvers over the back end does not work for me - imo.

Louvers were never factory installed and most do not have them because they are really outdated.

Just stand in front of a set of blinds. I had louvers on 2 cars and they DO NOT obstruct your view at all. Its harder to see out of my tinted rear window the any set of louvers. As far as outdated, why would you ride around a
80's car and complain it looked like an 80's car.

They do NOT cause vision problems, you hardly even know they are there...I had a set on my second gen...They can look good if you like them, juste a matter of taste.

they block the sun (like window tint) but without sacrificing rear visibility

Mine black car came new with the louvers (I probably would not have chosen them on the order form) and I've kept them on, although I don't believe anyone would say it "enhances" the Camaro's looks. However, it's original to my car, looks OK over my black paint, does a tremendous job of keeping sun from heating up the inside, doesn't obstruct vision at all and, frankly, is about the ONLY thing that has never rattled on my car. Only pain is propping it up to clean the rear glass . . . . . . .

Car: I've had 4 thrid gens!!

I just had a old set of Cragar's rear window louvers from my '88 TA, that I gave to my Uncle for his '85 Firebird. I like them on certain third gens, comes down to the color scheme for me. There is a guy in my town that has a set of flat black ones on his Maroon Iroc and they look really nice.-Nick.

I don't mind them. However I don't think I would install them on my car. It's just a matter of taste.

Does the pictured Camaro in the link have an aftermarket GFX kit on it? the front lip and side skirts seem to extend a bit lower than normal.

they peel off because either you buy cheap tinting, or you dont wet it down enough to get the air out.

and those head light grilles, could those be hand-made one-off pieces? ive only seen em on 1 car so far. :???:

there was a small fab company that made them and they went out of business years ago. I found a set on ebay but they went to high for me to get. They were powered so they opened and closed with the flip of a switch. I made a thread about them a long while back.

I would but I already took them off my daily driver for winter because when the windows frost up it takes awhile for the defrost to clear that window. and snow gets packed between the slats and is a pain to clear out.

Yeah, I think the louvers look sweet, but I took mine off this fall, because it got to be a pain with the snow and with washing the rear window. And, as mentioned above, they were a factory option on at least some of these cars, b/c my '90 iroc has it on the window sticker.
