Well, I guess this is the best spot to post this. There's this kid at my school who claims to drive a 88 T/A with a 350. I've seen it around, but haven't been able to check under the hood.

Here are my problem with it:
1) While it has a T/A hood, GTA wheels, and GTA tail lights, it has a flat spoiler, like the base Firebirds. The wrap-around became standard in 87, right.

2) If it has a 350, then it couldn't be older than 87, unless it's not the stock engine, right.

My thinking is that it's a base Firebird changed to look like a T/A. I keep hearing that he wants to race me. I just want your opinions on what other possibilities this car could be, before I teach his "Trans Am" a lesson ...

I dunno how long the race is or whatever.. you've got a nice gear ratio, but if he's got a 350 and a simular gear ratio, he'll spank you.. believe me

I realize that if he has a 350, I don't stand a chance. But, my thinking is that he only has a base Firebird - with probably only a 305 TBI, like I have. Parts on the body resemble a Trans Am, but not all.

 

does he have the T/A ground FX?
if he does i think its more likely a T/A than a base. it is very likey the aero wing cracked alot and he replaced it w/ a standard spoiler

 

Cruise by his car, write down his VIN and enter it into the VIN decoder.

I believe that will tell you a lot about the car.
