Okay, that is not true, ricers stole it from Hot Rodders, who did it a long long time ago. They where first, and it looks bad *** on a thirdgen. A guy in our group has a set and they look totally sweet!

As for installing them, I don't know...

forget that ***** crap. put them on. i have red on my black 89 rs and am going to be putting turquoise on my 91 teal rs convt this week end. as fas as installation, i had mind done for me the first time for $40, but it's real simple after seeing how it's done. i guess it depends on the company you get too. i have streetglow gold series. all it is, is a transformer grounded into the engine compartment with on wire going to the battery and the second wire going from light to light like a big circle.

I did mine myself. It wasn't too difficult... more time consuming. I had to wire mine each one back to the engine compartment. A helpful tip... clear rtv the ends and where the wire connects to the neon prior to installation. If you don't, as soon as you drive through a puddle of water, they short out. I also rigged mine to where I can turn them on with my keyless entry/remote start/trunk release. As far as the ***** thing goes, I think it looks good and always gets you attention. Do what you want, if you like it... go for it.

Not that I'm defending "import tuners", but around here, I've never seen a single import with undercar neons. The only ones here who do that anymore are mini-truckers and some ghetto-fabulous SUV drivers.

And somebody operating under the true definition of the phrase "hot rodder" would not install neons. Those are for the fluffs with mirrors under the car at car shows.

Ive got a custom Ultra Blue kit under my car. I used to do neon work so it was not that hard for me. However, if i were you i would not use the pep boys kits, they contain their transformers with each tube and it acutally doesnt last as long as a good single transformer kit.

The hardest part is mounting the tubes an dwires.. reason being?? To correctly hang a neon kit, one must ensure that while you are eye level with the bottom of your car you cannot see a tube. of course you will see them when you turn, but its important to not let the tube hang lower than the car... all you wanna see is the "glow" not the actual tube.

hope that helped.. if you got any more questions lemme know.

I had red ones on my '86 before I took them off to sell it. Sorry, no pics ... but they ARE going on my TA eventually. There's a good spot under each side to mount a tube. While the install took a couple hours w/ a floor jack and jack stands, to me it was well worth it.

Ignoring the 'rice' argument and taking it at face value: They look bad@ss on our cars if done right IMO

PS: I have the same set as Camaro22

the alarm/remote start I have installed on my car has extra input for grounding out other sources from the remote using combinations of buttons. All i had to do was run a single wire to the neon switch which was only 2 feet away, program the remote which left the neons in open circuit, and vua-la... talk about show boat. It's always the center of attention when we're out. And for those who are commenting on whether or not they think it looks good... take your opinion elsewhere, huh. No one asked you to like them.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but the only cars that Ive seen in my area that have neon are Hondas and those godawful lowered mini trucks. You don't see 1960's and 1970's muscle cars with them
If you like it then thats all the matters and it does look good for shows at least on our cars .
Nothing looks good on a rice except the auto crusher!
