ttop metal surface rust
how do you fix the rust on the metal edge of the ttops and hatch? do i just sand and paint or what?

i just sanded it down to bare metal were the rust was got a bottle of uinverisal paint for a quick fix

where is the rust on the t tops, is it on the removable top itself or on the stationary bar in the middle? if its on the bar you should take a good look and see if theres rust under the weatherstripping around the bar

Sand it down to bare metal. Work really hard to get ALL the rust off. Then put a quality primer on it until you can paint. Is the going to get a paint job, or are you just trying to take steps to stop the rust?

There is actually a real color called "GM Trim Black" that is what you want to use to paint it after you prep it. It's used all over our cars on all sorts of different parts...

NO, NO, No.
Grind the metal down, I used a steal brush on a drill. Get some type of rust prohibitor and apply that to the area of rust concern. The product I used said it turned the rust into primer. Rust is like cancer by just priming/painting alone will not prevent you from having future problems.
