opinion on shaving just the firebird rear side markers

Just wondering what you guys thought about this. I can't decide if I want to shave the rear side markers on my t/a or not. My side markers are vht niteshaded(tinted black) right now on my t/a which is black itself.

The thing is I think the area around the rear side marker could cause water to be trapped in there and make that area more prone to rust. The other thing is worrying about some dummy hitting me at night because I have no rear side marker.

By the way, i'm keeping the front side markers, shaving the locks, shaving the antenna.

I kind of got the idea from godspeedgta's car:

its done on my car along with the fronts..i dont drive mine at night but i also dont think that having markers is really gonna stop someone from hitting you...unless you leave it parked in the street in which case mine was clipped and it still had all the markers..didnt help anything really.

Hmm, I wasnt real sure till I saw that pic of Godpeedgta's. That looks real good, and I think that would be one ot those things thats not too obvious to be missed, but would be real nice.
Actually, you got me thinking about that now too lol

I guess I'm just out of the loop...but I don't like the shaving of side markers. The lighting is one of those things that help our cars look modern (to me at least). Not to mention the added safety. All it would take is one person hitting the nose or tail of my GTA and I'd regret it no matter how good it looked.
