Regardless, I think it looks great. Just got it back from paint. I still have to paint the inner headlights black and apply a few more decals. New lamps coming in as well.

The picture was cropped a bit in photoshop, and the saturation was bumped up 3 clicks. Besides that, its an un-touched image from my digital. I had a front end collision and ahd to replace the hood, quarter panel and nose. After paint and a little work I got this back!

well if ur gonna put the iroc sticker on the door i think maybe u should change all the emblems to iroc (bumper and side skirts), other than that the paint look amazing nice car

Um yeah me and Xpndbl3 were sitting here at the shop and I says to Steve, I says, um yeah why for does he have dem der RS logos with dat der IROC-Z sticker? And Steve, well Steve he says I dont rightly know, but he be fixin' to fix it, ummhumm.

 

Not trying to bash, but there were no IROC cars in 91. The hood, grille, and door emblems are all from an 85-90 car. The paint is beautiful, but you are making your car appear as if it has a major identity crisis. If you really want an IROC, just save up for one. But don't make a nice car into a cheap looking car by converting into something it isn't. Be proud of what it is.

I have a 88 gta, and my neighbors still admire my "Camaro” every time I am working on it, so I really doubt the general public will notice the RS stickers. and I have lived am my house for 4 years, and old them countless times it is a TA, most of them finally just started calling it the black car, they swear it is a "camaro".

Awesome cept for the whole RS Iroc-Z thing. I mean you just stuck Iroc-Z decals on an RS. You didnt "convert" it at all. Oh im sorry i forgot about the louvered hood.

Dont get me wrong, the paint job looks great, but it just didnt need those door decals at all i dont really understand why you had the urge to put them on.

 

Looks great, who gives a hoot whether or not they made Irocs in 91! 99% of the population don't no that (or care).
I'd be glad to make you a set of matching decals to go in place of the RS emblems to complete the package if your interested.
Post some more pics without messing with the saturation though.

I totally agree, the car looks awesome, you should either put the Iroc or Z-28emblems on. Your car would look SWEEEEEET with the polished Iroc rims. I have no problem with cloning as long as the cloner doesn't try and pass it off as original trying to make more dough.

 

Although its a mix and match Id still wager that 95% of people who see it will never know the difference

A majority of IROC owners, thats who cares. Don't cheapen our cars by slapping a door sticker on your RS. Ask any 4th gen owner how they feel about 3.8l cars with SS badges. Ask 1st gen owners how they feel about RS/SS clones.

realy nice paint. But I got to say that you should be proud about your car, no matter if its a Z28, Iroc-z, berlinetta, RS....whatever. dont try to convert it to something else. already people are pointing out things that are not from the Iroc, like the ground effects and not to forget the 3.1L V6. I say keep it as an RS. Hey, I have an RS, and yes at the moment it's a shitty 2.8L under the hood, but one day I'll have a 350 V8 RS, and I'll be pretty proud of my "modified" RS, I dont need IROC-Z badges to be proud of my car.

I agree with tnt_viper about the whole 'be proud of what ya got' deal. My Trans Am looks like poo now, but it's got a ton of work and a 350 coming into the picture that will make it what it SHOULD have been. I'm not going to change it to a 'Formula' setup or anything.

You've done well on the restoration... it doesnt need to be any more than it already was (exterior wise).

 

wow... that paint looks amazing! while I may not have done it to a V6 car, I'm just gonna say I don't have a problem with the Iroc decals. Since you pointed it out right away and I don't think you're trying to make ppl think it's an Iroc, it leads me to believe that you are just a fan of the Iroc look, which I completely sympathise with. I've always wanted an Iroc. Nice car man.

Paint Job looks awesome, but the whole theme of the car is so confusing.
Is it a IROC? Is it a RS? Is it a 91-92? Is it a Pre-90?
When I first saw the picture of the car, it just looked like someone took a bunch of parts and threw the car together (91/92 body kit), IROC-Z stickers, RS 15' wheels, and the 86-90 Z28-IROC hood.
Yes, you are right that most of the general public may not know or care what the car is, but your fellow 3rd gen members do know.
But oh well..as long as your happy with it.

I mentioned the Iroc issue early because there was a 40 page thread locked after a badging camaro conversation a few months back. I'm completely and totally aware that it is in no way an Iroc. And I tell people that too. If someones asks "Hey nice Iroc!" I say, actually it's just an RS with Iroc badges. But thanks man!

I find that the 91 - 92 skirts look alot better and 'meaner' per-say than the 80's models. Although, I love the iroc hood, emblems, grill and overall layout. Too bad no 91 or 92 Iroc-z's exist. I should have called it an Iroc-ZRS. lol.

I am very proud of the car that I have, and the RS looks great. But after switching it up a bit, you wouldn't believe the eyes I get riding down the road in this car.

The paint is a Kirker Acrylic Enamel with 3 coats of clear. Color is 3/4 Gallon Metallic Teal and a half pint of Aqua Metallic. Neat mix. But it will be a pain if I ever re-paint this puppy.

It looks great. A few things I"d change...

Get some silver RS badges. I think it'll look better.

Get some different wheels. I guess some IROC wheels Some silver wheels would look great... liek ZR1's or ROH ZS's.

The paint looks great man, no ****. My only gripe with cloned cars is when they can't match the performance of the real thing. But I don't think the V6 is gonna cut it for those IROC decals Whatever floats your boat.

 

1. Get a proper motor in there. I think even an L03 would attract less vitriol...
2. Get Z28 badges for the rockers and rear bumper.


I'd leave ti at that. Nothing wrong to me about having a car that has your favorite features across all the 3rd gens, but when you've got a car and one part says "IROC" and another says "RS", that's goofy. Get rid of hte contradictory badging and make them match, then it's just your own car. Everyone knows it's not an IROC because it's slow and has the 91-92 gfx.

The paint looks great, but I could certainly do without the identity crisis. There's no shame in having an RS.

 

Those "eyes" you get while going down the road may be from thirdgen owners/past owners confused about what kind of car you have. Just an idea.

I don't get why you're slapping IROC stickers on a non IROC but the paint looks good. I'm also not sure why you upped the saturation so much. Your car is what it is- why lie to yourself and everyone else?

And I would rather talk about that, then discuss badging the camaro an Iroc (which I photoshopped out). I understand it ticks people off, my apologies. But I think it makes the car stand out.

The saturation was upped because it was slightly clouds and you couldn't see the true color of the car. I will probably go back and re-post new images taken another day in true light.

I don't believe I'm lying to anyone. Or atleast I hope not...

Very nice. I dont have anything wrong with making your car look like an iroc. The Rs badges do look kinda goofy with the iroc sticker tho.

I am turning my RS into a sport coupe. The only reason is i changed my mind half way through building it, still nowhere near finished yet tho.

 

No your not getting looks from "switching it up a bit" Your getting looks cause you have a nice clean killer looking camaro. Its not the Iroc-Z decals that they are "aw-ing" about.

The thing is...yes, you did spend all this time on the paint, so why just slap on stickers, and body panels that don't flow with the car?
I think the car would look killer if you just kept it without the "identity crisis" as someone else said. Please think about changing it.

Love the color, heck I even love the whole iroc/rs splice thing. The only thing I don't like is the wheels. gotta getcha some Iroc wheels or similar to complete it.

all and all , you have a great looking CAMARO. any thirdgen restoration gets two thumbs up in my book. guess im just happy to see a nice looking thirdgen. oh yeah 17' irocs!!!!!!
