Something different

A couple of weeks ago, I took my 92 RS to a detail shop for a full detail job. Come to find out, this shop also deals in Rhino Liner and suggested to me that I do the GFX in the stuff (same color as the car). Since I had some pretty good scuffs on the lower front piece, I agreed. He gave me a good discount on the job only if I run a decal on the back window for 12 months. Mine was one of the first cars they did like that, and now that others have seen it at the shop, they can't keep up with the demand to have GFX and rocker panels done.

Takes a little getting used to, but I think it looks good. Looks better than the picture shows. It is all the way around, inclding the lower half of the back bumper.

Re: Something different

Did they paint over it or do they mix color in with the product? I know the lower section of Mazda Miata's come covered in a textured material from the factory. Not sure why, but there it is.

I can certainly see some benefits to this if you live near any gravel roads - plenty of 'em around where I grew up. Your car looks fantastic, and I certainly don't think this look detracts from it all.

Re: Something different

It is, from what I understand, sprayed on like paint. The product is actually clear until pigment is added - even the black bed liners. What I had done is about the thinnest it could be put on.

Re: Something different

there is a nice expensive set of gfx ruined... it's a pita to remove also.

great idea in theory however if you were to ever have had them repainted correctly with a nice clear and proper adhesion you shouldn't get many rock chips or paint issues.

i understand why you did it but it the world of show cars it looks terrible... in all day practicle vehicle use though it's nice. should have done your whole car with it.
