Will Leather conditioner work on Vinyl seats?

Sorry this may be a dumb question but I got a bottle of Meguairs Gold Class Leather Conditioner and I just got some new racing seats see pic. They are vinyl but they look and feel like leather. I was wondering if this conditoner would be okay to use on it? Thanks

You could probably find a better answet on Autopia.org. I wouldn't see the problem with using leather conditioner on vinyl seats but I could be wrong.

Every leather conditioner that I've seen at the store says that it works on Vinyl as well. It should work.

I use Meguires leather conditioner on my vinyl PMD seats and they look great even after 24 years, see:

Re: Will Leather conditioner work on Vinyl seats?

Leather cleaners tend to be more gentle than vinyl cleaners, so using a vinyl cleaner on leather is fine, but a vinyl cleaner on leather is probably a no-no. You'll be just fine using any Meguiar's leather products on vinyl surfaces.

Thanks I thought it would be okay and I did call the Meguairs hotline and the guy there said that same thing as Mike-in-Orange said: Leather Cleaner & Conditioner is okay on Vinyl but Vinyl Cleaner & Conditioner on Leather is not good to do.

Thanks again and hgffrank your seats do look great!

Ah, it's nice to be right every now and then!!

I should point out that I live close to Meguiar's headquarters in Irvine, CA and on Thursday nights they open up their garage so anyone can come down and work on their car. Meguiar's supplies all the products, machines, towels, pizza, soda and experts in paint car to teach you how to take care of your paint. Some guys have poker night, some have bowling night, I've got car detailing night and have been going so often that I don't even work on my own cars anymore - I'm now spending more time showing others how to use the DA and rotary buffers, etc. It's actually a lot of fun and for any of you in SoCal I highly recommend it.

You said using a vinyl cleaner on leather is fine. Then you say a vinyl cleaner on leather is probably a no-no. Make up your mind.

First you say it's ok then you say it's a no-no. Make up your mind.

You waited 18 years to tell him that? Maybe you should join a VW bug forum...
