tint vs cover

I had a discussion w/ my friend about my tail lights. when i bought my car the guy gave me the headlight covers but no tail light covers so i was thinking about buying some cause im all about the whole package. but my friend thinks tinting looks better he says pick up a spare set of tail lights and individually tint each section (you know how the camaro lights are all those rectangles) I've never seen this before so i gatta try and look sum pics up of this, but he claims its better than just covering the whole tail light with a cover.. What is everyone elses opinions have you guys seem this method b4?

Re: tint vs cover

For safety's sake I'd go with the covers during car shows and then pop them off while driving (check your local laws). I'd rather have the brightest brake & turn signals (day or night) for other drivers to see than darkened tailights.

Strictly appearance speaking, I have seen both styles of darkening and when the tinting is well done, I like that method the best. But you do lose the option of quickly going stock again.

I am going to have to agree withyour friend on this one, I have seen several done both ways, and In My Opinion, the covers just look tacky.......

The tint gives it a factory apperance, and is just a cleaner look.

Here is an Iroc I did for a guy using the VHT Nite Shades paint, I also did the 3rd Brake Light in the spoiler:

Re: tint vs cover

sweet thanks for the feedback and the pick how complicated is it to change the lights and cops around me aren't much for pulling you over for that type of thing especially in an american car. I dont think i would go as dark as the pic above either thanks again...

Re: tint vs cover

I drove around with covers on my car for a wile, till one flew off. Day or night you can see the brake lights great through them. I would rather covers because of the smooth look. Those painted tail lights do look good tho.

Re: tint vs cover

I did the VHT Night Shades on my Tahoe years ago. The cop much have had a thing against dark lights. My wife's 90 RS had those smoked covers, and the same cop pulled her over, 2 days before he pulled me over! Not even in the same area. He must have a BIG area, or changed patrol areas.
