I personally like the stock hood myself. Some of those aftermarket hoods are gaudy.

It WAS an option 85 to 87 Trans Ams (not GTA) I
I see them around once in awhile.

Only looks right on those years listed though, IMO

Re: hood birds on 3rd gen trans ams

A lot of the 82's and 83's were sold with a matching dealer installed hood bird. I have a Pheonix Graphics repoduction bird on my 86 T/A. It is the silver outline, and matches the birds on the rest of the car. It looks pretty good. Read the directions and follow them to the letter, or you'll have a mess. The first one I just jumped into, and..., the second one went on easy. Charles

It just doesnt belong. I have seen some of the cheap birds on cars and it looks like crap. The only time I have seen it done correctly was on the Bandit 2 version. But then again it looks similar to the 2nd Gen. But then agian I think the choppers on OCC look like crap too.

actually thats too small, the ones that did come on the 85-87 cars are way bigger, and on a clean car they do look great!

Yep, it's red right now with a black hood. But, after running the black hood for a few months now I'm planning on two toning the car black from right below the windows up and red down from there. I just have to figure out were on the nose I want to divide the colors. I'm two toning because the bird wont look right on a red hood, and I don't want a solid black car.
