Hoodliner Alternative??
Hi guys. Got a hoodliner question regarding my 87 trans am. My stock hoodliner looks totally haggard. I've got a sh** load of chromed and shinny engine parts and this thing needs to go. unfortunately the car was repained and underneath the liner has the very obvious old paint. I know I could just buy a new liner but are there any alternatives? has anyone put up a refliective thermo sheild on the hood or something that looks nice?

Re: Hoodliner Alternative??
I have seen people use Dynamat or similar product on the hood underside. Would reduce engine noise. Not sure how it'd look...I'd never do it to my car, but obviously some people like it.

I've never seen those before, but why can't they just have a Trans Am one?! Thread Starter

correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can get new ones anymore, so you gonna pay what they want. but I agree 300 is crazy. of course, 350 for a new wrap around wing is pretty crazy too.

Re: Hoodliner Alternative??
I just took mine out. There wasn't even anything wrong with it, I just hate 80s OEM sound deadening material. My new motor going in has a scoop on it, which will require some hood 'adjustment' anyways, and I'm planning to freshly paint the hood when it is off the car (after I use the plasma cutter on it), top and bottom.
Yeah, I know that had nothing to do with you or your problem, just thought I'd share, lol.

Re: Hoodliner Alternative??
those are okay but if you want a cheaper solution i would suggest getting a material you like color wise and such and then go to a custom embrordery place. You can get your name and an emblem on there. so it's completely custom. and on the cheap, has to be under 300 total.
figure (if you want to go this direction) get fabric (any color or sheen) porb. 40 bucks max for better quality stuff. then use the old deadener or if torn get a new one. Then have the place embroider the design on top of the material on top of the deadener sandwiching it together. and makes some stitches around the places the clips go so it won't rip (can color match so not seen)
then you can have any color or look design you want and it's on the cheap.
then agin it's almost 2am, i might be delirious.
