my wife and i came up with this paint scheme on my daughter camecube-need for speed. i sent the picture to "street connections" and he said no problem. so in about three weeks this is what my car is going to look like well he said three weeks.... we'll see cool... stupid... just ok... ? the white pic is what it looks like now and i'm getting rid of the hood scoop and going with the black carb. bonnet. the engine bay and engine is going to be painted to match as well-black and orange

Personaly I dont care for it but whats important is not what I think of it but rather what you and your wife like However i do think it is a good idea to get rid of the giant hood scoop

Maybe you could go to the photoshop request section here on the boards and ask sumone to photoshop that paint onto your car for a better idea of what it would look like

Get rid of the scoop. That paint scheme is rather extreme, you better have a lot of "go". Personnally Id paint it white again. Theres nothing like a white Camaro. Check out my cardomain is you wanna see pics of the process.

I'm really interested to see how it turns out. Usually extreme paint jobs don't look great on third gens but that one might work. It would be sweet if someone photochopped it for you B4 you commit, or you you already?

My body shop said 3 weeks to do my car and it turned into a year LOL, long story.

lol ya it's off need for speed i did'nt want it to look like a ***** but i want it to be different. and well .......... it's different lol lol i'm running mid 12's as is and i allready have more mods just have to bolt them on after paint which should get me into the high 11's so it will have the "go" as someone mentioned to back up the crazy paint. i'm going with black rims and the engine and engine bay to match and interior......... shoot .......... now you guys got me thinking lol lol lol i'll just buy a t-shirt that say's "its not the color that counts, its how fast it goes" ......... wait that one might back fire on me with the ladies lol oh well it's allready a done deal

i think that paint job is kind of tuner stype paintjob. i would think maybe a more of a 2 tone paint job that matched up with the lines of the camaro. i seen afew of them like that.

awwww!!!!!! you guys are killing me lol no one likes it lol ya it would look like a tuner car, but the whole idea my wife and i were going for is "different" i'm sure as i get older (i'm 30 now) it might seem a little silly but then i will sell it to a young kid. i mean the car rocks as far as being fast and rust free. maybe after it's on the car it will look like american muscle and you guys will accept me for who i am lol lol lol ........... ok probably not oh well life is short and throwing away 3500$ ........ i'll get over it lol lol anyway, i'll be posting pics as the progress is done and you guys can let me know how stupid it looks should be all done by march. pic below is me playing before i took it to the paint shop yesturday.

Nice color choice. I'd probably stick with the orange, but yellow would look good as well.

I dont really see that extreme style graphics looking good on a third-gen, however, I may be wrong, it might turn out nice. I would probably go with some kind of stripe along the side(ex. Yenko, or some kinda Mopar stripe, or even combine different ideas to make a unique stripe) Because a stripe would: be subtle, and also follow the lines of the car(ex. third-gens have sharp, crisp straight lines so you graphics would look best if you have sharp, crisp straight lines)(RX7s have round curves so they can get away with the extreme style graphics.)

But whatever you decide, good luck man. Hope it turns out the way you expect it to.

I say go all orange with black anniversary stripes. That way it still has that camaro flavor, well depends if your gonna drive it as a daily also. Its easier to touch up than a custom 2 tone. I've been their & trust me its a pain in the *** when both colors are damaged.

i did think about the racing stripes vs the design. the paint guy has'nt started paint yet. he said he has a week or so of body work so there might still be a change. my wife and i were playing with different looks on the came cube seeing if there was something els we might like. maybe pewk green and pink with a pee wee herman image on the hood ..... ..... or racing stripes lol

I think those are on the last of the fourth gens, they have that checkered flag look at the end of the stripe on the hood.

LOL LOL LOL ok guys i get the hint in a big way. i'v allready paid for majority of this paint job and the guy is only on body work. i can bring him any design and he can paint it. so it's not to late. does anyone have any other suggestions? i dont want it all one color and i dont like white. but i want it different, thats my whole goal, this car is running low 12's and soon to be 11's i want it to scream "race me" i sure you guys are thinking it's going to scream "gay and proud" with that paint job lol lol but please to anyone who has an interesting idea post a pic or describe it. something you thought would look awsome on a camaro. much appreciated to anyone to pitch's.

As for the paintjob, I think You should paint it the orange You want with black racing stripes and be done with it.

i say go for what you like, your the one driving the car not us. i know GM has a killer orange they are gonna use on the new camaros, even Lamborghini has a beautiful orange.

Orange graphics on a black car doesn't work I've seen one here Black RS with orange anniversary stripes.....eeeew. Orange with black yes. Is your car gonna be a daily driver, if so an easy color to match is a good idea, instead of a custom or expensive color.

karl you had a sweet car, nice ride. my car is not giong to be a daily driver. i plan on going all custom with the interior, possibly mimi tub in the rear.... more done to the motor etc. my wife actually like this car so she's giving me no hassles about sinking money into it. which is weird cuz she's so not into cars. so ya kinda the reason i want to go all out on this paint job, i want the wow factor when i'm at car shows or the track.

oh ya ... i did'nt think about suicide hood, that would be sweet. i do plan on doing the lambo doors. although i want the one that open up and out not straight up. i think ferrari enzo has the kind i like. my original thought was to do what your doing and go allllllllll black everything black black black. then we started talking and decided on going with different/unique. the black allways looks sweet, but there a few of them out there. i have'nt seen to many out there that are all tricked out like a tuner car. and just for the record in this thread i'm not exactly a fan of tuner cars ok other then the supra... sorry anyones gotta give props to that car. those thing fly

that camaro looked pretty nice. i liked the hood the sides were ok i just dont like when they do the paint down at the bottom. i like it in the middle so it catchs attention. the hood is cool thoa i'm going to show that to the paint guy. i thinking mimicking the sides to go around my hood scoop/carb bonnett. and he said he can paint the same design on my tappit covers as well we are going to have the seats reupolstered with the same design also. ya i wanna go alll out on the car lol who needs money it's way overated lol

Yeah hahaha I like the rim detail also. Go for it man its your car, do what you want. Not everybody has the same taste. As for me I like subtle mods doors & hood aren't that drastic. If everything is done right even the most subtle mods are awsome.Such as chevy insignia front side marker lights.I got all kinds of ideas but not enough time hahha.

ya if i do go with the black on orange i want to black out the lights and side markers and tint the windows. still not sure what i want to do for rims yet. i have a set of craigers, fat in the rear and skinnies up front with chrome finish but back rims might be kinda cool on that paint job as well.

I think orange on black would look killer - but it has to be the right kind of orange. Something with some depth, definitely a metallic. Black and orange has always been one of my favorite color combo's, btw.


I think you should just take a minute and think about it, you know?- what do you see in your mind's eye when you imagine your camaro is finished. Because in the end, you're the one driving it and that's all that matters: is that you like it.

Honestly, I couldn't imagine asking people on a forum how to paint my car. But that's probably just because I consider myself somewhat artistic; and the fact that I'm dead-set on what I like and what I don't.

And while I'm at it; I don't find anything wrong with taking inspiration from the graphics on video games. Although I've never played need for speed, I know midnight club 3 has a crapload of designs (most aren't my flavor, but alot look pretty good).

black and orange rims hmm that would look prety cool. and "eighty9rs" in my mind i just want it to be different. getting other peoples opinion just helps me find more ideas. i'm not that artistic so this thread has helped alot(thanks to all who put input) the orange is going to be metallic and how bright or dark .... not sure yet my wife and i are going to the paint store tomorrow with the painter and looking at paint. personally i'd want a bright orange to accent the black more but my wife wants a darker orange........ i can beat her at arm wrestliing......... we'll see lol
