I had a similar problem, and I tried about $200 worth of stuff before I took it to a detail shop and had them claybar it. It cost me $150 to have the entire car claybar'd and detailed. It looked great when they got done and took them a couple hours. Worth every penny.

Rubbing alcohol works pretty well on pine tree sap however, if the sap has been on for a long time it will take a while to soften and the sap may have damaged the paint.

My moms Suburban gets pitch on it in the mountains, and it usually stays on there for some time before i get called on to clean it up. Anyways, I tried some sap remover or something or other, and it actually worked pretty good. Takes a little time and a lot of rubbing to soften it up but it comes off.
