Mothers is a good polish for aluminum,, I've used it alot,,, I've found though the the Eagle One polish is better since it has 'jewerls rouge' in it (an abrasive) to cut thru tough dullness & mothers akes a nice follow up. If the dirt isn't all that bad though,, the Mothers is an excellent polish for bare metals,, just make sure it's not clear coated aluminum 1st though.
If you can feel the machine ridges in your wheels then they arnet clear coated,, if they feel real smoothe (minus the dirt) then you might have q clear coat on them

I'm not saying anyone's right or wrong but I have a few different ideas about buffing and polishing aluminum. Aluminum is soft and porous. Eagle One, Mothers, Autosol and others are great products. Even though they are called polishes they mainly remove oxidation. If you look at your rag when you polish it turns black.
This black residue gets in the pores and scratches of your aluminum and can cause an overall dulling or clouding effect. It would be good to use these products to clean the oxidation off then switch to a straight clear-like carnabu wax for protection.
Most factory wheels do have the clearcoat to prevent oxidation and keep the buffed shine looking good.

I think the clear coat has come off my wheels in most places. I'll use the stuff later and see how it works out... thanks for the replies.
